The Top of My Hospital
We are approaching the end of a week.
Thankfully.
This week has been just chock full of exciting things.
I have been visiting my local hospital so often it is beginning to feel downright homey.

View from My Hospital’s Parking Lot
I am also feeling popular, kindly and easily approachable..
Every time I go in for a test I meet some old fella (well maybe about my age) who immediately starts talking and tells me his whole life story including all current anatomical deficiencies. It is more than I wish to know of course but I lend a sympathetic ear and nod and ooh and ahh in the right places.
I know you would like to hear why I have been visiting the hospital so often. And since the hospital buddies/admirers never ask about MY reasons for being there, you are the unfortunate recipients of this sad tale of woe.
It all started with a swollen foot. I think I told you about that about two weeks ago.
It ended with a tooth extraction.
And the swollen foot is still swollen.
I am finding it difficult to sort this all out too. But here is an attempt.
I did go to my primary doctor about the foot.
“Should I baby it Doctor?” “Or should I walk through it and exercise it away?”
“I won’t know that until I know what caused it,” said he.
And he promptly scheduled:
- A blood test to rule out gout. Nope, no gout.
- An Echocardiogram to rule out heart. Nope, heart’s just fine.
- A sonogram to rule out a clot. Nope, no clot.
- An X-ray to rule out a break or fracture. Nope, no breaks or fractures.
None of these appointments could be scheduled on the same day – hence, the multiple hospital visits and the ever growing number of male acquaintances and their autobiographies.
About this time a back molar tooth (mine) became sensitive to pressure!
Then it began to really hurt non-stop.
That meant a trip to the dentist who said it was a bad tooth and had to come out ASAP. He referred me to a tooth pulling specialist with a fancy name like Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.
And so yesterday I had an extraction there. That means they yanked the offensive tooth right out!
I will not beleaguer you with details about that horror-fying experience, but the extractor person accomplished the deed in 30 minutes. Fortunately, Bill went along for the ride and was there to catch me as I staggered out. He was my life-saver-hero who literally let me cry on his shoulder! That was yesterday and when the shakes wore off there was no pain and no pain since.
Note: Next time I will request total anesthesia, gas, PUT ME OUT COLD PLEASE!
That brings me back to the swollen foot which is still swollen!
Now the doctor is talking about a possible MRI for the foot – not the tooth.
And while I wait, Bill purchased a glamorous set of hotpink and black lace-up, sturdy, walking shoes for me. Ahh, I know it’s not a fur coat or diamonds, but I am hero worshipping anyway.

Bill Got Me Some New Shoes!
Sorry about all the pain, hope this foot issue isn’t diabetes.

Your Bill is an absolute sweeheart – those shoes are stylish! Now, I am so sorry that you have had to go through so much this week, especially your mysterious foot ailment, and I hope they get to the bottom of it very quickly so that you don’t have to suffer anymore. However, you have missed one vital part of this story. Was the doctor or any of the technicians hot? If so, details please :).

Bwahahaha! A young woman pulled my tooth. Bah Humbug! My regular dr. is hot but he’s the same age as my son, married, and I’ve been revealing myself to him for 15 years and he takes no notice. Bah Humbug! 🙂 Bill is getting more and more interesting though, with age. 🙂

Oh my goodness, this post makes me think of so many things that I truly wish I could just sit down over a hot cup of tea and chat in person with you to sympathize. Darn it, you live in Virginia and I live in Pennsylvania, so that won’t be happening today. So…I am so sorry you’ve had such a wild week – as if the hospital visits/tests weren’t enough on a swollen foot, then the tooth extraction??? Ouchy ouch ouch. I’ve been to one of those oral maxillofacial surgeons — the title alone scared the snot out of me! I’ll spare you the details about the time my dentist extracted a wisdom tooth and it broke off resulting in much digging to get the root out. But thankfully, you didn’t have that happen and Super Bill was there to rescue you and give you a snazzy surprise. Your superhero saves the day! I do hope your foot problem is resolved very soon! ♥

I’m surprised the blood test didn’t include your glucose for diabetes. It always seems to me that when something goes wrong, there are a series of things. The appointments, tests, worry, etc. make me nuts. I wish there was a place where all could be done in one trip. I hope you get answers soon. As for your hubby, hot pink laces? I am so impressed. He’s a keeper for sure!

Once again you and I share similar experiences Cindy – this time in the dental area. I have wisdom tooth stories too but that was aeons ago and wasn’t as bad as this tortuous event was. Thank goodness for Superhero Bill for sure! And thank YOU for your friendship and caring. Note: Pennsylvania isn’t that far away you know. You could come south for a visit.

Thanks Kate! My earlier test for diabetes in Sept. was “normal”… the mystery is driving me nuts too but at least the tooth problem is over. Now walking is the issue. “Such is life.” 🙂

Hi Dora, Well I too hope you get some results from somewhere to solve your foot problem, I was going to say it’s a pain in the neck/Foot ! how you have to go from one place to the other before anything gets solved. However I’m glad you have already checked for Diabetes, that’s one thing out of the way. I have Diabetes which has caused many problems for me but not the feet as yet. Can’t wait for you to find out what it is so be sure and let us know won’t you. Love the pink shoes Bill is really with it isn’t he. Take care while walking.

You don’t want gout. I’ve had gout. You don’t want gout. More painful than the tooth.
But, wait, you go to the hospital, get a tooth pulled and all you got was shoes? He should have gotten match socks too. I’ll have a talk with him…

I’m really sorry to hear what has been going on Dorann. Gosh they didn’t fool around with your tooth, gone in no time, but the extraction doesn’t sound like something I want to go through anytime soon. What the heck with your foot, can’t believe they haven’t figured it out yet. Hope it isn’t too serious.
