I love to roam around my “backyard” with its wonderful long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Summer still hangs on but there are little clues to the coming of Autumn.

Rainbow Ridge 3

This has been the strangest summer in Virginia.  It has been cool, then verging on hot and dry, then overcast, and lots of rain more often than not.  Such weird changes have marked summertime until on this day it feels like Fall and friends are airing their expectations for Christmas on FaceBook.

Well, yesterday the Blue Ridge Mountains were shrouded in mist.  Then the sun magnified our ever-green surroundings, and Ahhhhh, just look at that fat happy rainbow too!

I am now calling the view from my kitchen window The Rainbow Ridge.

My BigFoot “Expert Doctor” is in Charlottesville, Virginia.

It’s about an hour and a half drive over the legendary Afton Mountain.

And even on a clear day you can be confronted with fog.

There are lights embedded in the roadway but it still feels treacherous.

And it may not actually be fog, but the signs say so.  Last time we went “over the hill” we could see a low lying cloud enshrouding the roadway, and then drove right into it.

I am experimenting taking pictures with my brand new cell phone.

What do you think of these beauties?

Don’t they look like “fake fotos?”

I mean, they remind me of the old paint-by-number kits I used to love when I was a little girl.

Staying in the lines and making the colors pop were my goals.

Oh, the hours and the plans I made for framing and display.

I thought they were truly magnificent “originals.”

But then, here are my latest creations.

They were generated by nature and enhanced by “edit,” which can be just as much fun

as painting-by-numbers!
