I can hardly believe it but Big Foot is now Little Foot again!
That is cause for celebration.
Or is it?
Yes, the swelling is down.
And Yes, I no longer need the Big Boot.
But for over a week now there is a new piercing heel pain
which according to the expert Foot Man (podiatrist),
is the result of wearing the Big Boot for 3 months!
This common condition is called PLANTAR FASCIITIS.
I have graduated from Bone Marrow Edema to Plantar Fasciitis!
This can also take months to heal too and requires icing, bending, pushing, pulling, resting, exercising, adding shoe inserts and the possibility of
sleeping with a stretching brace.
Really?
I am patient, slow to tearful demonstrations, and even slower to overt signs of anger.
I don’t mind putting my feet first (and up) for a while. But three months? And then months more?!!!!!!!
Any objection to WHINING?
The real trick is being able to say “Plantar Fasciitis” three times fast after two glasses of wine.
No, I can’t do it, but I keep trying.

Oh Andres, that little test would definitely take my mind off my troubles! I can’t even say “Plantar Fasciitis” slowly one time.

Dang, that is tough news to take on the heels (ahem) of your previous diagnosis. I admire the way you are taking it in stride (oh, dear, I’m on a roll). I guess all you can do is simply to put your best foot forward. (sigh) 😉

Hahaha! Eliza, you are indeed very quick on your feet! 🙂

That is bad news. I’m sorry for you. Hopefully the PF won’t last long.

I thought the outcome would be better from the title of this post! Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease… or some such quote. At least you got some good puns. Keep putting one foot in front of the other! More wine, please!

I think that you have a right to whine. Hopefully the PF wouldn’t last very long. I like the Dr. Seuss quote. You have a good attitude and you’ll get through this with flying colors.

My husband has been doing all the above for plantar fasciitis. Peyton Manning was treated for it this past season and ended up winning the Super Bowl. I say we find HIS doctors/therapists! Our son-in-law had it for a brief while and says rolling a golf ball under that foot helps stretch it.

I really feel for you my friend as I have also suffered from Plantar Fasciitis, and it’s not fun at all! However, do the stretches and take it easy, and you will be better in no time :).

You are a gem Dora ! Not only for putting up with the big foot but for keeping us all entertained with your comical quotes. If I was ever in the dumps I always watched I LOVE LUCY remember ? .she made me laugh until the tears ran down my cheeks. Well it helps take your mind off that which troubles you, I hope your troubles will soon be over Dora.

I’m happy to hear the swelling is down and you’ve gotten a proper diagnosis. My father has been dealing with plantar fasciitis for over a year. He’s dealt with the shots and insoles. The greatest relief has come from a new foot massager he recently purchased.

I’ll give you a trick that works wonders for the dreaded PF. Freeze a water bottle. Any time you are sitting, reading or watching TV, roll your foot along the bottle. The length of time should be the same a reciting the alphabet slowly, stop and repeat. This stretches the PF while the ice settles it down. I’ve seen patients have a much quicker recovery by doing this faithfully for just a couple weeks, some sooner. This was provided free of charge.

My friend had that. They tried shots but she needed some surgery. Hopefully your case is simpler and some treatment will help it. You’d think they would design the boot so it didn’t cause something else.

I may be asking for the name of the foot massager Jill. In fact, do you know the name of the foot massager your Dad got? Thanks! 🙂

You are onto something there Kate – redesigning the boot. Good idea! 🙂 Makes no sense that when the AirCam Boot keeps your foot immobile and flat for months to relieve one malady, it causes another that can take just as long to heal.

Ha, ha! I always did like Dr. Seuss, but I am very sorry about your foot problems – here’s hoping the doctor is wrong about how long it will take to heal. Love ya, Julie

PLANTAR FASCIITIS.IS HORRIBLE! I dealt with it, lasted almost a year before it eased up. They say it never totally goes away and will most likely rear it’s ugly head again. So far pain free from it for about four year, and I am so thankful!

It’s hard to believe that the original prescription led to another, oh my dare I say – long drawn out prescription!! Time for Dorann to feel better, I hope your PF heals quicker than big foot. Just not fair.

I used all sorts of contraptions, but I think what helped the most was a night time brace that stretched the muscle. And I even bought Kuru shoes which people swear by…didn’t help me at all.

Thanks for the tips Suzicate! I have started with the shoe inserts but may progress to the night time brace.
