Grandson, Rick and I picked up the trash along the road in front of our place yesterday. Grandson has to do community service every grading period for Social Studies at his elementary, so we fit in an hour and half of what we call “beautifying the Texas Independence Trail” along which we live. As we picked up the cans, bottles and other rif-raf, we shot photos of some Indian paintbrush trying to pop through. It’s beautiful weather down here, btw.
What a grand idea for a Social Studies assignment in grade school! I hope you post some of the Indian Paintbrush photos you took. Kudos to you and your grandson for “beautifying the Texas Independence Trail!” 🙂
I just knew that you would not be able to resist a spring sprout.
I’m keeping an eye out for the robins that pass by on their way to you. I wish they would stay but they only stop here to rest.
A big snow storm predicted here beginning tomorrow afternoon so it’s survival mode out here in the county. They say to expect up to a foot of snow and that’s a lot for us. But better than ice. Don’t take any chances with that Jill… tis treacherous stuff.
I agree about the terrifying winds last night Barbara. Normally I love the woooooo sounds – much like going to sleep hearing the rain or the ocean. But last night I actually moved to the quieter side of the house since things were banging against our bedroom wall. I could just envision trees falling through the roof since we are fairly close to a forest. Yikes!
It’s getting there Dorann – saw 5 daffodil buds today our fringe tree is blooming and tomorrow will be 32 degrees. Darn I hope they hang in there. Aren’t you tired of the cold and snow?
We are expecting six to 10 inches of snow this afternoon and through the night tonight. It’s the first snow here in my part of Virginia since Thanksgiving. Being Florida born and bred, I always get so excited about snow days but hopefully this one will be short and sweet. May the iris and daffies survive for a happy spring! 🙂
Hoodwinked is right. As are my poor crocus. Oh well, the iris are tough as nails and will survive. Can’t wait!!

I suspect we are “tough as nails” too and will survive, but the wind is definitely a-howlin’ here and it’s too cold for comfort.:)

The robins have certainly found a great resting place on their way up here. I guess that’s why they are taking their sweet time! 🙂

Yes, my iris AND those sweet little jonquils popping out of the ground are both about to get a healthy helping of snow!
