Posts Tagged ‘A Good Man Is Hard to Find’

It’s a different way to say, “Thank you,” than saying it out loud.  I don’t think my husband reads my blog posts but maybe he will read this one.

You see, I have been sick with a nasty cold/virus/flu (not sure which) for nearly ten days now.  That means I have been capitalizing on weakness.  No beds have been made.  No meals have been cooked.  No dishes washed or put away.

My almost perfect husband has been doing it all.

I’m so grateful that he has taken over life’s many nagging demands.  He is a marvel.  True, the dinner salad is a little different.  I didn’t know he preferred green peppers over red ones and that he likes broccoli in his salads.  Hmmm.  Wonderful to learn new things about a spouse who has been around forever!  But he’s been putting dinners together and some of them have even been appetizing to a sickly wife.  And he never forgets to bring home the canned chicken soup!

Live and Learn:   I also didn’t know he likes the dishes cleaned frequently – no waiting around until the dishwasher is full – nope – do em  – right now!  And then he puts all the clean ones away – right away!

He tends to forget that Rozie-the-dog’s water is low, but somehow I can manage that and Rozie doesn’t seem to mind much.

Need anything?  He will go and get it even though the stores are seven miles away.

Forgot anything?  He will go and get it even though he just got home from the store that’s seven miles away.

Being mechanical, he enjoyed putting the humidifier together and making it work, and he assiduously refills it to keep it going.  I suspect this is a civil engineer’s medical cure-all approach.  And whatever he has done is working because I’m better now.

How did I get so lucky you ask?  I must be an astute judge of human character!  Or maybe it’s just called instinct.

And, so I am saying, “Thank you,” in this way to the very good man I found so long ago.

See, Dad, if you are watching – you were wrong all along!
