I know. It has been weeks and weeks since I connected with blogging friends. But I ask you, “Of what possible interest could I have been whilst riding out an isolation mandate?”
Staying at home with spouse, Bill, sounded like a snap since we have always loved to talk to each other. The news, politics, our family and graddaughters, the weather, our plans for the grounds, things to be done in the house. Oh, a never ending list for good conversation.
Only time went on – and on. Two months have gone by. We both need haircuts and we both crave sunshine and purpose. And Alas! We may be running out of conversation.
I am still coping with BigFoot (an ailing left ankle now progressed to the knee and stabbing hip pains in the opposite hip). This makes it easy to sit more than move and Bill does most of the moving.
I still cook.
I still sanitize home surfaces.
And I still take care of the laundry.
I may be boring but the need to expand conversation has taken over.
You, my wonderful blogging friends, will now be subjected to my introspection and innermost thoughts.
Wait! Do not run in the direction of Re-Starting the Economy.
Wait! I still have things to say.
LOL Dor, I have no doubt that by now you’ve discovered a new topic for exploration. I’m so sorry to hear your pain is extending. No doubt the opposite hip has been bearing extra weight from the tender side. If it were not for golf here on our island I’d be climbing the walls but the fresh air and sunshine makes it that much more tolerable. Hopefully you’re able to spend more time outdoors very soon. Your spring should be well under way, no?

Glad you are still cooking! I’m dreary of my my own cooking all the time. We had some take out but also had some less than perfect ones.

Hello my sister of choice in far away Virginia. We have missed you. My blog posts have been few and far between during this strange time also.
We have moved into Alert Level Two so I can see my grandsons Again, one of whom is coming home this weekend. He hasn’t been here since early February.
We can move away from our neighbourhoods, can meet friends and even cafes, bars and retail shops are open again. But it’s a very different world to the one we knew pre COVID.
I am sorry to hear Big Foot still troubles you. All I can do from so far away, is send hugs to you and your lovely Bill,

I’ll read anything you have to say, Dor. John and I have not run out of conversation, because he tells me what is going on in the world, and I tell him about wonderful blogging friends.
I’m sorry Big Foot is still in the picture. Wish we could photoshop her out and cure her at the same time.

I totally get it 😃. I keep a gratitude journal where I make myself right down one good thing that happens every day, and I’m starting to find it tedious because every day is pretty much the same right now LOL. I am very relieved though to hear that you and Bill are keeping well, and now I have something good to write in my journal for today 😃❤️.

I am so glad you are back. I was a bit worried when you dropped out of the blogosphere. I have been home alone, for three months too as we had strict social distancing in this part of Tasmania. At least not being able to drive didn’t matter because almost everything was shut. I could still go for a walk though. Things are starting to get back to normal but I still am mostly staying at home…

You are not along screaming into the void! You should join our virtual knitting night on Wednesdays for some conversation. Send me your email and I will add you to the invite. We use Zoom and I can help you get it set up, if you need help. If you need a Golden Retriever fix, I can lend you Pichu. Glad you are healthy and safe!!!

Hi Dora, I think every one has been doing the same thing, such as catching up with jobs around the house and garden, I know I have and John has been repairing and adding things to his aviaries as well. Plus we chatted about turning the garden into a veggie garden well part of it anyway However, as you say there comes a time when one struggles for something to talk about and when that happens we go for a walk with Koko, come back and make more plans, read a book and drop off to sleep and awake refreshed.

Hey on a good note you live in the woods and have a beautiful deck to enjoy your hummers on if you can find something comfortable to sit on with all your pain. I am sorry they have yet been able to do anything for you 😦
One thing I did was shut off the TV and now only listen to nature.

I, for one, am glad to ‘see’ you again. I was beginning to wonder if the lock-down also locked down your computer! 😉 Pontificate away, my friend, we are all anxious to hear from you!

Aloha, Dor,
I am so bored, too with lack of conversation with others. I can’t wait for the YMCA to open up; it should be soon. And I need a hair cut. Wearing a mask everywhere is the pits, though necessary for the elderly especially. Take good care.

Hi Tina! Thanks for your comment and you are no doubt right about the hip taking on extra weight from the bad side. Yes, Spring is definitely here but we have had off and on sunshine so even the stink bugs think it is still winter. I cherish the sunny days and the dog and I spend those times basking on the deck.

My cooking deteriorates by the 3rd day. We used to go out on the 3rd day. Now Bill goes out and gets carry out.

Hello Sister of Choice and thank you for missing me. I have been following most of your posts in secret and always enjoy your take on life. I too have not seen family since last November but our son and wife plan to visit the end of this June. Sending hugs your way too and thank you for your good thoughts.

Hi Anne! You always have the most unique way of putting things…. photoshopping BigFoot out of the picture is a priceless example. And you also have a way of making your readers feel wonderful and your comment is also a priceless example. Thank you. Good friends are hard to find.

I feel like a celebrity if you are adding me to your journal! I just wish you would get back to blogging too. Yep, Bill and I keep on going…. might just make it to our 61st anniversary mid June. I hope to have something madly exciting to blog about. 🙂

Oh how I admire you! Staying at home alone for 3 months sounds like a real test of endurance. Everything has been shut here too but now starting back. I may have forgotten how to act in public! 🙂

You are such a sweetheart! Thank you for encouraging me to join the virtual knitting night. I am not ready for that yet and just getting back to blogging and even that is a computer re-learning process. But thank you also for offering up Pichu! I would jump at that chance but we adopted a little rescue dog a year ago named Elsa who keeps me getting up out of the chair. She is one weird pup though – a smaller mongrel mix with a strange assortment of fears. She follows me everywhere and like Bill says, “If you are looking for Dorothy, find Elsa.”

Hi Rita, Sounds like you and yours are weathering this pademic the right way. We are lucky to be retired and enjoying our beautiful surroundings. And this time of year in Virginia is quite beautiful. We are finally firmly attached to Elsa-the-dog now too. She is a love but it took us nearly a year to adjust to her odd personality traits. We have never had a dog like her.

Hi Eunice, I always love to hear from you and so enjoy your posts and updates on FB. Hopefully August will find us safe and sound here in Virginia and unafraid of the nasty virus. I so look forward to sitting on the deck with you and getting your instruction for water coloring and just hearing your stories. Stay well and happy. Sending hugs your way……. Dor

I swear I already posted on this, but that could have been imagination or dream. Maybe just read it at a moment where it was impossible to respond to anything. I am glad to see you blogging again. 🙂
