Daily Prompt: Fearful Symmetry
Pick a letter, any letter. Now write a story, poem, or post in which every line starts with that letter.
Bad days come and go, but we have had a month to cope with Rozie’s abscessed tooth.
Because she was resistant to antibiotics, the vet doubled up on the dosage.
Before we knew it Rozie was not eating.
But then we gave her little bits of things to keep her strength up and force fed her (via a giant syringe) a high caloric food mixed with antibiotics.
By the time she had been on the antibiotic slurry for a week, she lost control.
Bacteria and bowel movements took over all of our lives.
Beneath Rozie we put down old sheets to try to keep up with her frequent “gifts.”
Beginning two days ago we stopped the antibiotics.
Brave Rozie ate her first real meal this morning minus medications.
Blue flowered sheets still line the living room floor.
Boiling them may make them useable again as rags or drop cloths.
Beautiful old Rozie chased a deer yesterday and tried to catch a squirrel too.
BRAVO ROZIE!

Poor baby! Poor you too. I know what it’s like to wallpaper your floors with towels and sheets just in case….

Bravo indeed! And for your patience too. I have a 20-year-old cat. We still love him… but what a lot of work!

Such a sweet beautiful face. You made me cry I love when they come around and give us what we so desire for them to just be themselves even for just a moment. Enjoy every moment you are given to love her.

Thanks Mary. Rozie does have a pretty face. Things are looking up Mary, but we are “cautiously optimistic.” Rozie is very old and this has taken a lot out of her.

It’s what comes with loving our critters, but I have to admit I’m getting weary and I think Rozie is too.

A very good sign Cindy! The alert expression on her face is worth all the heartache.

You do get to the heart of things! Sometimes I think I’m short on patience, but the better she gets, the more patient I am.

Aw….. YAY for Rozie. So glad she’s recovered. That must have been a scary time for your family.

Oh don’t say that. I always worry when I see the post is about Rozie. On a happy note, my cat who was peeing outside the box has stopped. He hasn’t gone on his piddle pad in a week. He is now inside the box. Yay! I have no idea what it all was about except maybe getting a new cat threw him off. I was worried that this would be his last summer but now I’m hopeful.

Oh gosh, I was so scared this was going to have a sad ending! I’m so thankful that your Rozie (why the interesting spelling?) is all better! Yay! 🙂

Thanks Melissa! Rozie seems to be on the mend and then has setbacks. I don’t know why I put in the “Z” in her name. It just sounded “cuter” I guess. 🙂

Seems we are both always trying to analyze pet behavior. It’s so hard because they can’t tell you what hurts. Rozie was eating fine yesterday but today she wants nothing. Her ups and downs are beyond understanding so we just try to work with her. Glad to hear your cat has adjust to the interloping newcomer! 🙂

One day up and One day down. Today she refuses food. I promise not to write any more Rozie posts until she’s truly up and running. 🙂

Thanks Dianna. It’s still up and down with Rozie – has been going on for over a month now with a slow creeping improvement.

Would that it were true. Rozie is still having lapses and it’s over a month now of antibiotics. We are all growing weary but there are still “up” days when I get sure that all will be well.
