My friend just sent me a video on how to shuck corn like a pro, or like I know what I’m doing. This method also cooks corn BEFORE you shuck it! One ear takes 4 minutes. Sound impossible? I’ve tried this and guess what? It WORKS! No muss, no fuss, and easy-does-it!
Check out this video: shuckcorn
I have to try it. We have corn probably 5 times a week (my husband loves it!) and with the shucking and steaming and dirty dishes — this is so much easier! We finally have local corn! Yay!

What a coincidence – my Mom just sent me this video the other day. It’s nice to know that it really works!! 🙂

Do you have to cook it first? I like to boil mine instead of microwaving. That video was great! Nothing spoils corn eating like silk in the teeth. Thanks for this.

No, you don’t have to cook the corn first. It cooks in the microwave. I too like boiling mine for 3 minutes, but this is faster if you’re in a rush and for some reason my husband loves the taste.

Interesting video – quite apart from the fact that this delightful old gent has embraced at least three technologies – the microwave, video, and the internet.

Never thought of it that way Margie, but you’re right. The “old gent” is using new technologies to solve an age-old problem and share! Kudos to the elderly.

That’s great! Does it work for non-GNO? 🙂

Probably works better – more natural – less modified? Isn’t GNO “Girls Night Out?”

Ha! What a neat video. Leave it to you to find something fun and easy like this. 🙂 I’ll have to try it someday. It is definitely corn-on-the-cob season, that’s for sure. My kids would eat it every night. I thought I was a genius when as a kid my parents would send me out to the back porch to shuck corn with a bunch of ears and a paper bag. I could never get all the leaves and silks into the bag as it kept closing or blowing over. Then one day I realized I could fold the top of the bag down a couple of times and it was so much more stable! See? I know you’re not questioning my use of the term genius, right? In any event, good to know you tried this, and wishing you many happy easy summer meals.

Wow! I wonder who figured that out? I, too, used to be the one mother would send out to the porch with a paper bag and the corn to shuck. I’ll have to try this.

I did this, and I am amazed! I’m a convert . . . until I dump the microwave, of course.

I did too! It’s great for just the two of us. Any more and I think I would go back to shucking and boiling. 🙂
