I never tire of the sweeping view, especially whilst cooking and standing at the kitchen window.

How blessed we are to have found this place and recognized it as home.

Thirty-two years ago I would hum happily en route to this 20 acre plot where there was no home yet . It was a place in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where we could imagine a future.

The land stayed unspoiled. The house Bill designed sustained us.

And “the future is now.”

I was gazing skyward at a woven tapestry of clouds

seemingly moving in an organized palette

to a pre-planned downward fall

 in a Cloud Shower.

Heaven offers an endless array of artistic views

and some need to be remembered.

I keep blogging about our trip to Germany and now beginning to envision

blank faces,

yawns

and vacant stares.

Constant reviews of recently returning tourists can even be sleep inducing.

This will therefore be the last post on my visit to “the old country.”

That is, unless there is something special that must be shared – like a castle built by Mad Ludwig II.

Dog on Houseboat

They seemed to be permanently docked houseboats.

We walked along the river and noticed rusty old tubs that looked as though they had been used for commerce in their better days.  Upon closer look I noticed lace curtains in the windows and potted plants along the decks.  There were mailboxes ashore too and places for garbage pickup.

Then I thought I had the perfect shot of a big old white-faced dog on one of those boats.

He was looking at us through the center of a life preserver ring.

But, by the time my camera was positioned, the big guy moved aside and began barking.

He did not want to have his picture taken and did not approve of foreigners.

As the Germans say,

“Learn to complain without suffering!”

That pup was definitely complaining, German style, but we meant him no harm.
