A Truly Lovely Award

Congratulations to Dorothy at Musings of a Horse Mom for receiving the One Lovely Blog Award.  Dorothy is a great horse lover and a riding diva with her own very special steed named Bear.  She also writes beautifully and posts lovely photos of Bear in action.  And thanks very much Dorothy for nominating Virginia Views for this same award. It is truly a lovely thing to be recognized by fellow bloggers we admire.  I am beyond grateful.

The rules for receiving this award are to post seven things you may not know about me, and to nominate seven other Lovely Blogs (to pay it forward).

Here are seven things you may not know about me:

1)     I once had two horses (Martini and Lucy).  They died of old age.  Lucy was 32!

2)     I live in an equestrian neighborhood.

3)      I love horses, dogs, cats, and almost any living thing.

4)     Autumn used to be my favorite time of year but now it is Spring.

5)     I am trying to walk 10,000 steps a day and have managed to reach that goal once a month. I need a horse.

6)     My favorite dessert is Crème Brulee, but then there’s ice cream, and chocolate, and…..

7)     People think I’m a great cook but I am really the great imposter.  My recipes usually have less than 5 ingredients and take less than 20 minutes to prepare.

Of course, every blog I follow is lovely (to me) and would that I could I would list them all.  But here are seven lovely blogs I nominate for the One Lovely Blog Award. Believe me, they are worth checking out.

Double Hitter Awards

Congratulations to CathyG of Comments from Cathy on receiving the One Lovely Blog award AND the Versatile Blogger award – a “double hitter!”  Now that is real proof!  Cathy’s blog is definitely impressive and she is a fine friend to find in the blog-us-fear!

Awards are the gold stars for us bloggers.  They matter because they are further confirmation that our friends are looking.  And we must have something that touches our invisible family of followers – a special way of capturing life in photographs, of expressing thoughts and emotions in words.  So Thank You Cathy for including me in your list to receive both of these wonderful awards.  They matter.

Sometimes we receive the same awards more than once.  This is the double hitter that is twice as gratifying because it’s like saving the last delicious bite for later.  It’s the second time around for me and ever more special.

Finally, although I have offered up seven things about myself before, I can’t resist doing it once more.

1)      I dream in color!

2)      I have always wanted a fireplace, but settled for a wood stove instead (more practical).

3)      There is no place like home.

4)      I once traveled in my work at a time when getting there was half the fun.

5)      Now writing takes me to other worlds.

6)      I love my friends in cyberspace and want to sign my comments, “Luv, Dor,” like in a real letter, but isn’t that too personal for someone I have never met in person?

7)      I don’t “text,” but I’m thinking about it.  By the time I am cutting edge, we may be sending messages by brain waves.

One Lovely Thing

Congratulations to Dana of Serene Scribe for all the new and well deserved awards she has received recently.  And thank you Dana, for naming my new blog for the One Lovely Blog Award.  It is truly a lovely thing to see that shining heart image in the side column.  And every time I see it, I know I will again be grateful to have met such inspiring fellow bloggers in this whole process.  One lovely thing can make a day extra special, and today was my day!
