Congratulations to CathyG of Comments from Cathy for receiving yet another award. The Mrs. Sparkly Ten Commandments Award is supposedly based on a real woman who was (or is) known for her elegance. She was/is also renowned for her personal integrity, good manners and behavior, for having high expectations of people, and a great sense of humor. All of these things certainly shine in Cathy’s blog, so be sure to take a look.
Now Cathy has gone and passed the award on to another group of bloggers, including me, and in so doing, zeroed in on one of my best kept secrets – I LOVE things that sparkle! So this award is happily received – not because I am elegant and possess all those wondrous qualities (though I’m sure I do) – but because “sparkly” is in the title and that makes me feel good.
The rules of this award:
Answer 10 questions.
Nominate some bloggers you think deserve this award.
Notify your nominees.
Sounds easy huh? But, answering the 10 questionscommandments is more difficult than you might think.
1) Describe yourself in seven words.
Sparkly – Ha!
Neat
Kind
Worried
Proud
Creative
Stable
2) What keeps you up at night?
My dog, Rozie, who has nightmares or hears things and pants in my ear to wake me up at 2:00 AM. When I finally calm her down, she goes back to sleep, but I’m awake the rest of the night!
3) Whom do you aspire to be (like)?
A combination of people with various admirable traits, talents, abilities, drive, self control, beauty, and loving characteristics.
4) What scares you?
People who cough in my face.
5) What are the best and worst things about blogging?
Best: Of course, the other-worldly bloggers I meet and admire who provide new perspectives. And I love having this platform for my need to write and show and tell. Thanks to my son if you are reading this, for telling me to stop saying, “I can’t.”
Worst: My growing obsession with blogging where every spare minute is spent, and when not blogging, thinking about blogging and thinking about it and thinking about it, etc. etc. etc. and etc.
6) What was the last website you looked at?
Photos from the Loony Bin. Cindy is not only an excellent photographer and writer, but she makes me laugh out loud (LOL).
7) If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
I would magically appear as a size 6 and look fabulous in a teeny weeny red bikini. I know this is not an altruistic or admirable wish at my venerable age, but sometimes “truth is stranger than fiction.”
8) Slankets yes or no?
I had to look this one up. Didn’t realize it is a blanket with sleeves for easier reading. Great idea but obviously my answer is “no.” I never had one.
9) What are you wearing now?
Jeans and a summer blouse, a solar watch (never needs a battery!), and a little sparkly gemstone necklace (See, I love Sparkles!). Not wearing: shoes.
10) Tell us something about the person who nominated you.
I have been following Cathy G for some time now because I love her stories and pictures of her family. She is so fortunate to have a wealth of information and photographs that go way way back to her ancestors and she writes about them so beautifully. I hope she is planning to convert her blog into a book. It will be a wonderful gift for those she loves.
Phew! Now that is done and if I haven’t embarrassed myself too badly, here’s the good part – nominating other oh-so-talented bloggers for this very unique award. And yes, you all sparkle and shine!
