Reflections of Xmas 2013

As ready as I will ever be was the thought as I saw our Christmas tree in the mirror.  I actually believed I would go to sleep that night with visions of sugar plums dancing in my head.

And the visitors arrived bearing gifts.

There were no sugar plums but there was a real Christmas pudding made in England by friend, Gwen and  red roses and tulips arranged by Barbie for the beauty of the season, and smiles and hugs from beautiful Suzanne.  Bill was in charge of the standing rib roast and though the timing was problematical and dinner was late, the table was grand – a real “groaning board” to be sure.  And there were cookies galore and marzipan candies and an array of delightful delicacies  to make you wish the holiday would never end except for the never ending growth in waistlines.

As the sun fell the sky filled with a crescent moon and the brightest stars of the night and the day after Christmas dawned beautifully clear and crisp.  It was a fabulous day for shopping  in our little town of Lexington, for walking and talking and lunching, for remembering holidays past and airing our hopes for holidays future.

It was a holiday to cherish and remember.
