View from the warm interior of my home December 17, 2020
An icey foggy strange and wonderfully different day in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
The Blue Ridge Mountains are always a viewing pleasure, but today they are a distant and magical kingdom right out of a Disney film.
Looks pretty! Stay warm though. We have several inches of snow and it is beautiful.

Beautiful! Our daughters house is out of power. Guess you were luckier.

Your view is amazing any time, but the snow does make it magical!

Wow. Great view. Here we are celebrating the sun which has finally decided to join us. I hope you, Bill and your whole family have a great, but somewhat different, Christmas. Love from your NZ suster.

Looks beautiful. We’ve had snow here in our new home. First time I’ve live in snow.

Oh how lovely–a blog and a picture! Such a beautiful view. There’s a bit of snow in many places around the country today. Wondering who among us will have a White Christmas?

Gorgeous view you had today, Dor.
Btw, how are those innersoles working for you? I recently got a new pair myself, love them!

Minimal snow here but a sparkling ice cover yesterday morn! Quite beautiful.

Hoping your daughter gets the power back quickly. We were lucky here for sure since the ice laden branches began to fall.

Thanks Dianna! Isn’t it strange that I still love the view after over 30 years in this house?

We will be an alone couple again for Xmas…. just like when we were first married and roughing it in remote areas of California. Good thing Bill and I rarely run out of conversation. Married 61 years and we still like to talk to each other even through a pandemic!

They said it was too dangerous to drive around here… with the icey cover all around and even though our main roads were all pre-sprayed.

How exciting that you had snowfall already to welcome you into your new home. Were you prepared? Was it alot? I know you must be very happy there. It is a beautiful place.

We rarely get snow for Xmas around here in SW Virginia but Bill keeps saying he thinks we will have it this year. A good year for it since we are “elderly” and asked to stay at home as much as possible. Snow for Xmas would certainly be something to write about.

Thanks Eliza. It has been so long since I did a blog post I was expecting to be forgotten. I too love the innersoles but have stopped adding ’em since there are now problems with my Right (other foot) – same stuff only now added to a severly arthritic hip. Am trying to outwait the virus before discussing a hip replacement. Meantime I am in a boot on the right foot. Common and complicated old age problems. One of these days I will put the innersole in the one shoe though. Hope all is well with you and yours!

No snow to speak of here – only a temporary icey world with lots of sparkle and new perspectives and today that is almost gone back to the barren beige of winter.

We were prepared and it was only a few inches and only lasted on the roads for a day.

Absolutely beautiful awesome view! I miss the beautiful colors of the changing leaves in the fall and the crisp beauty of new untouched snow in the winter. San Antonio, Texas is not Virginia! Snow and ice are extra beautiful when you can sit and look out a window from inside the comfort of a warm home (and you don’t have any obligation to be anywhere else)!

Thankyou Mary! I know San Antonio is very beautiful in a different way. I sometimes miss Florida where I grew up and never knew snow until I was 21 and came to enjoy the seasons.

I am following you too. An upcoming blog post is about my good friends, who were also long-term B&B owners and Pete now sells B&Bs. And also coincidentally, you and I are both named Dorothy (but call me Dor).

Dorothys have a way of finding each other! Most of my friends call me Dot or Dorothy, one calls me Dora, and a couple of acquaintances try to get away with Dottie (but not for long)!
