You can only watch so much television when sheltering in place, right? And how many jigsaw puzzles can you do without getting a headache? I even find myself reading two books at a time!
But, even though our world started to open up again to allow for haircuts and dining in restaurants, the Corona Virus is angrily re-emerging and forcing us aging vulnerables into continued self isolation.
When I started blogging I had no idea the end result would be the addition of people I not only enjoy learning about, but that many have actually become friends.
And through all the challenges of self isolation, and through the long months of solitude, as if to prove the value of our relationships, my blogger friends continued to create incredible connections. You offer your experiences, your humor, your photographs, your ways of coping, your thoughts, and mostly your love.
But for quite a while I was reading your experiences and not sharing mine. I was absent from the blogging world in a writing dry spell I thought would never end, when suddenly I realized that reading your posts was helping me get through the Covid-19 Pandemic lock-down.
The inspiration was there “in plain sight.” Writing and sharing were the blessed remedies for coping with odd downturns like lockdowns and forced isolation.
Many of your posts made me think of what I would do in similar circumstances. And my own responses could certainly have been crafted into blog posts. But, instead of following the urge to write, I sent comments instead. It was writing in a way, but mostly done to thank you, my blogging friends, for your words, your time and your continued contributions. You kept me sane in the insane world of Covid-19!
I am posting things again but the dry spell threatens to return.
I recognize it looming overhead.
Then, as if it was meant to be, a Virginia Black Bear wandered into our yard today and has inspired me to create another post.
Stay tuned.
Blogging is the original social distancing. 😉 The internet has made sheltering in place that much more bearable.

Great! I’m looking forward to another installment of bear stories from you.
Reading and commenting on posts has kept me as busy as always. Blogging is a marvelous way to make friends and share lives. I hope your dry spell will not return, because I always enjoy your posts.

I am glad you are blogging again, Dor. And interested that you had a furry friend come a’visiting! Hopefully he didn’t cause any problems.

I often use other blogger’s posts as a safe place to write things I wouldn’t want my family to read on my blog. Not bad stuff but maybe the person involved wouldn’t find the humor. I am always grateful to both write comments and get them back. It’s all about the conversation. Write when you are inspired and read when you are not. Now let’s hear about the black bear!

Yes, the angry virus seems to be returning in spades Dor, especially here in SC. We too are ever more careful, and ever more tired of being careful. I try to focus on how fortunate we are compared to others sheltering in more difficult places, some with young children and others all alone. It could always be worse, couldn’t it? Stay strong, stay safe my friend.

Can’t wait for the bear post! But it can be hard to be inspired to write a post with Covid-19 swirling all around us even as we stay home. Texas was opening up but there has been an increase in cases so the governor has closed the bars again. (It is cheaper and safer to stay home and drink!) With July 4 coming up I am wondering if the beaches will be closed.
I haven’t posted much lately either. Stay safe and well!

Thanks Coastal Crone! Here in our rural Virginia county the number of Covid-19 cases amount to around 30. No deaths and only one or two hospitalizations. Still, most people adhere to all the warnings about masks, hand washings, etc. We have been so lucky so far and hope it stays that way.

My heart and hopes go out to you Tina. My middle granddaughter and her Mom are living in Charleston so I do worry about them in the middle of an outbreak, and then the other two grands go to visit there too. And yes, it could be worse for sure. Bill and I do count our blessings since we are in a sparsely populated rural area of VA with only about 30 cases of the virus in our county and no deaths thanks goodness.

Now I will forevermore think of my blog as a safe place to write secrets. Trouble is Bill reads my blog and so does our son. Yikes. Forgeddabout secrets. Everything is peachy.

Elsa was my hero and scared the big bear away, but I am still afraid to go for a walk and I took the hummingbird feeder inside.

Your posts are always so uplifting Anne. You are one of the ones who sustained me through the writer’s block thing. I am not quite sure it’s over but I am trying. 🙂

Oh, how right you are Eliza about the wonders of the internet! I have family and friends who call but there is no substitute for reading the experiences of my blogging pals and for me to write requires deep thought so the time goes flying by.

I haven’t experienced writer’s block yet. It could be something that hits almost everyone at some point. Have you read anything about it? I would like to look it up when I get time.
Meanwhile, I’m glad you still read posts, and I hope your words will soon flow freely again.

Yes, we are out on Kiawah about 30 minutes away and only a small handful of cases here. I hope your family is being careful in town. I was happy to see they mandated masks

Looking forward to the bear post. My walking buddy and one of my best friends lives about 1/2 mile from me and was surprised by a black bear in her yard tearing down her bird feeders a couple of days ago. He was back again yesterday and the now completely empty feeders are lodged safely in her garage until winter. That same bear visited us too as we found bear scat at the bottom of our deck steps. But thankfully, I didn’t see him/her!!
