Elsa’s Soothing Dog Bed
Elsa-our-little-rescue dog has been with us for over a year now. She is much calmer and follows us even without a leash. She has discovered the safety of “home-sweet-home” too and runs for it at the sound of a gunshot (hunting season just over here in rural Virginia), or thunder.
I have been searching for a safe place inside home-sweet-home, where Elsa can go to snuggle up and deal with her anxieties. Voila! We now have a “soothing dog bed” which is a soft fluffy thing that even I would like to cuddle in.
I think it must feel like a great big hug!
Elsa still runs for home when she’s scared, but now she has a Soothing Bed to hug her to sleep.
.
The huggy bed looks marvelous. Elsa has really responded to your love, attention, and training.

I’ve seen them an wondered if they work. I’d like to get my cats a bed for in front of the fireplace. It’s one of their favorite spots. They love beds and sleep in them all over the house.

I have the same problem with our dog Koko. Maybe I will try one of these beds instead of the one he already has. I must say it looks nice and cosy.

She is so sweet – I’m amazed it has been a year already. Where does the time go?

The expression on her face is touching and priceless. If there were a speech bubble above her head, it might say something like, “This is so wonderful. I hope they don’t take it away from me.”

You are doing a wonderful job with Elsa, Dor. She may occasionally run, but you have given her a safe and secure home!

Awe so many dogs are lost for weeks to years from being on the run from scary noises and things ❤ I cured JT of Loud noises by going to youtube and playing a video with her at my feet with the sound down so I could not hear it and after a few weeks she was once again desensitized. Maybe a covered create(top only) with her bed inside poor thing what a life she must have had before you 2 rescued her xo

That bed is perfect for Elsa. Our golden dog Henry never seemed to need a “bed,” so we just spread out a piece of old carpet for him at night. Until he turned 11. Then he couldn’t settle down, so we bought him one of these comfort beds. How he loved it! Really made a difference for him in his old age. ❤

Thanks for checking Kathy! You are right. I have been taking a break. It’s a prolonged writer’s block but I hope to get inspired soon again.

Hi Dora, I hope you are keeping well and safe during these trying times of the Virus lockdown. Elsa looks snug and warm in her soft bed, and certainly looks contented. Take care.

Hi Rita, Yes, we are weathering this strange plague and Elsa is happy because I rarely go out and she is never alone. I am not sure how she will feel if and when I can get in the car again and go away for a few hours.
