Corky and Mack
My son is here visiting after the great graduation celebration. It is always wonderful to see him because he lives so far away in California.
This visit is extra special though – 1) because of the graduation, and 2) because we saw all three grandgirls, 3) because Corky extended his stay and we can catch up on his life, and 4) because he is so darned helpful.
All in the space of a few days:
- He moved umbrellas and heavy pots to get us ready for summer.
- He added a music app to our computers and phones.
- He helped his Dad with technical things in the car.
- He found us a highly recommended Handy Man.
- He solved the problem of stink bugs in the tractor gas tank. (How did they get in there anyway?)
- He installed dark blinds in the guest bedroom so guests can sleep longer now.
- And more.
He is our pride and joy anyway, but this visit has to be marked down as special and this is our way of saying “Thank you son. We love you.”
I know what you mean, Dor! I have an only son and his daughter is graduating with a Master’s degree from our state university; next week I go up to another granddaughter’s graduation in Spokane, WA; then there are two more high graduations of two youngest granddaughters! Only one left in high school. Blessed and busy time for our family! Aren’t we so proud of our families! God bless you and yours- Liz in Blue Hawaii

What a wonderful tribute to your son! I’m so glad you’ve had this special time with him. I’m not sure I’ve seen a picture of him before, so it was great to meet him visually. Happy, happy visit!

A special visit from a special son. Aren’t we lucky to have these young men in our lives?
My son arrived on Friday and installed a new TV in the living room and moved the old one into the bedroom. He’s coming back next week to hang them on the wall.
See Dor, we really are sisters in spirit and in so many other ways

Aw, there’s just nothing like a son!! Glad he’s been able to help you all out so much. (Can he find a highly recommended handy man for US!?)

Helpful offspring are so appreciated! It’s a turning of tables from when they were little.

We have been lucky that he returns every few months for visits.

Thank you Anne. Glad you enjoyed the post and picture. Our son is rather camera shy and doesn’t really want me tp put him out there on social media, so that’s why you haven’t seen much of him. In this one, he is almost incognito with the sunglasses and all.

Isn’t it uncanny that our sons are helping with all this home stuff at the same time? You are right – we really are sisters in spirit Judith.

Our son was chatting with a manager at Lowe’s and she provided the information . He seems to think the big home improvement stores will help with finding people. They have a vetted list and it makes sense they might share because we would also conceivably order materials from that store. Good marketing.

Your son and mine are alike in avoiding the front side of a camera. *sigh*

Wow. What a helpful son. Was he always like that or is there a molding process that helped shape him and if so would you share?

I think it is another “phase” in the growing up-growing old process.
