“What is your vegetable of the day?” we asked. And our waitress answered, “A Melody of vegetables.” ~ Dor
Our Day 3 Rule is not working!
That is a rule in our house whereby I cook for 2 days but on Day 3 we eat out.
To reinforce this, my meal planning and end results go like this:
- Day 1 – A fairly delicious healthy meal with protein, vegetables (a melody), a starch, and a fresh salad.
- Day 2 – Still almost passable.
- Day 3 – A no longer attractively displayed meal with a slightly unappetizing aroma, and no taste. I don’t do this on purpose either. It just happens.
And Bill knows we have to eat out! Today is Day #3 but I think he has forgotten.
Saturday I went for MRI #5.
Good thing I handle the claustrophobia and loud banging noises well. I always ask them to play DooWop music but they don’t really know what that is so they get “Oldies” which are never quite old enough.
Ah well. But I am anxious for the results of this one because BigFoot is no longer Big! Can this be a happy omen? The swelling is waaaay down to an almost SkinnyFoot!
The trip for the MRI was also kind of fun since we found our way to a Roanoke, Virginia shopping center and had lunch at the Wild Flour Café. Isn’t it nice that this old couple can still enjoy good food (not cooked by me!) and good conversation away from home?
Other happiness:
“Sleep perchance to dream.” from William Shakespeare’ s play, Hamlet.
Two weeks ago I had a Sleep Apnea Test (which they prefer to call a “study”). I must say it was a tortuous experience but they called today to announce that “You do not have Sleep Apnea and your oxygen levels are fine.” Ha! I have passed the Study! Hurrah!
I do understand why the dr. ordered it though. He kept saying my tongue was too big for my throat or the throat was too small.
So we started with a finger test at home that didn’t look good but perhaps the finger was too small or the test thing was too big because they think it accidentally slipped off during the night. No matter. I sleep like a log – always have – and no snoring either.
The quote above about the Melody of Vegetables is true! And isn’t this a grand and happy Melody of Meanderings?
I do wonder what tune those melodies of vegetables sing?? Ha! I loved that one. And hooooo-ray for Big Foot becoming ASF (almost skinny foot) and for you passing that blasted sleep apnea test (that was no study, that was a test and you aced it!!).

Glad you “passed.” You don’t want to have to deal with the machine they send home if you “pass.” I ate some veggies once – weird. 😉

A medley of veggies, of musical selections, as soon as I read this, I want to go to bedly, which btw, you can do peacefully now, without your dr. creating insomnia. Life is good when you can sleep in peace, and pick your own freaking veggies and music!

Hey, let’s hope big foot is now little foot! I like your rule. I am going to adopt it immediately.

I take it that “melody” of veggies was mainly “string” beans and “pea”anos???

Glad to hear that you don’t have sleep apnea. You can sleep easy now.

Good to hear the medical issues are going away and things look positive.
Wish I could sleep like a log – or a baby! 😉

I LOVE your reason for eating out on day 3. We eat out on Sundays and rarely in between. John must be more immune to bad meals than Bill.
I’m thrilled your foot has shrunk and that you don’t have sleep apnea. I’m hoping good things come in threes for you.
We love music, but we’ve never had a melody of music. That’s a really good one!

Oh thank you Cindy! You reinforce my joy for acing the apnea test and for the ASF (almost skinny foot)! 🙂

Sleeping with a mask does not sound inviting so I am delighted to have passed the test! And thank you Andrew! 🙂

Hahaha! I love to be the source of new family rules. Beware though. You will soon automatically make horrible meals on the 3rd day. Heaven help any visitors.

🙂 Sleeping has always bee my one area of expertise. Passing the big sleep “study” is further proof of that.

You need more practice making bad meals Anne. Take it from me, it works and after awhile it becomes a habit! 🙂

I like your habit, since it leads to a restaurant meal.

I love happy vegetables. I wonder if they dance, too. Speaking of dance, you may be doing that shortly without a BigFoot. So, if you study for a test, do you test for a study? Glad you got a gold star on that one!

Hi Dora. Oh I am so pleased about the thin foot now. You have suffered enough so Hurrah for all tests being O.K. I have lectures from my son every Sunday on Skype because we are diabetic .He has a stronger will power than me and sticks to a special rigid diet. He has done so well he is off all tablets and has lost weight. I tell him I have to treat myself now and again to that odd cake or biscuit at my time of life. Good luck Dora you are doing just fine.

I already do. First day is the first overs (as I call them). Tasty. Second day is the leftovers (not too bad). Third day is the leftovers of the stuff we didn’t want to eat either of the two days before. Sometimes I declare it my diet day and eat very lightly.

When I’ve had to climb into the MRI tube in the past, I’ve always taken a trip. Florida over the years is one I can take blindfolded. I can usually cover a good ten minutes getting from Salisbury, MD to Emporia, VA. There are lots of good places to stop with much to see. Since they have closed the Rest Area and restaurant on the BBT, I try to remember the ships I observed over the years. Seldom do I make it to “South of the Border” at the NC – SC line and the claustrophobic experience has ended.
Great story headline – “Dor and the Shrinking Foot”

I know what you mean by that urge for “that odd cake..” I just found mini cheese cake snacks hoping they will cure my cravings. 🙂

Hahaha! Darth Vader would have been the “in” look at our place but I’m glad I don’t have to dress up for bed. 🙂

I have just bought some of those myself only this morning. But then I went and bought a Twix Bar. No will power at all. Have a great week Dora.
