It’s Tuesday!
I LOVE Tuesdays in my part of Virginia because it’s “Swim Day” (even though I have missed doing the local YMCA Aquasizing sessions now for several months.
I do manage to get there on Thursdays though and whilst the class is doing jumping jacks in the water, I am dog paddling at the deep end. It makes BigFoot happy to participate even in that small way.
It’s Thursday!
Thursdays are also delightful because Thursdays are Swim Days too. And the dog paddling brings on an after-the-beach drowsiness as well as soft skin and a feeling of immense accomplishment.
Other days present odd challenges.
It’s Monday!
On Monday, after agonizing trying-on-and-on-and on, I found a bathing suit (to wear on on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It’s a lovely floral thing (dooming outdoor swimmers to be attacked by bees who think the flowers are real). It might work for Tuesdays and Thursdays but makes me look pregnant on any day of the week.
Now I realize a woman my age should not be pregnant (and if so, might qualify as a carnival attraction). Nevertheless, it is a lingering image locked in my mind’s eye.
It’s Friday!
Therefore on Friday, after swimming on Thursday in an old suit which outgrew my newly acquired non-exercise shrinking figure (saggy suit blues), I returned the new (pregnancy type) suit to the store down the street who said they would take it back with the original tags.
That leaves Wednesday and the weekend.
It’s Wednesday!
Wednesday was spent on line ordering other things. BigFoot resists on-foot- buying in real stores (except for swim suits) resulting in shopping withdrawal symptoms. You would be surprised at how painful that can be. But, modern progress allows one to alleviate pain by enabling purchasing things without actually standing on your feet.
As for the weekend,
- Sunning in old clothes (not sure of bathing suit yet).
- Waiting for results of the 5th MRI for BigFoot.
- Trying on new socks (ordered on line).
- Taking pictures of BigFoot (which is nominally shrinking now).
- And wishing it was Thursday!
- How did your week go?
My week was good. I didn’t have to buy a swimsuit. Even when I was young and looked better with a lot of skin showing, I always hated shopping for a swimsuit!

Shopping for a bathing suit is the pits! Kate’s right, even with a younger body, the lighting was always horrible.

So far so good and your post made it even better as it made me smile! Love the Cathy cartoon! I hate trying them on too so I still wear my old one from Land’s End for the hot tub at home. Haven’t been in public in one in years. Glad Big Foot is becoming Smaller Foot.

I bought a swimsuit last time I went on holidays two years ago but it just doesn’t fit my shape well enough for me to want to wear it. if it’s big enough to preserve my modesty up top it’s too big around the hips but if I get smaller I struggle to get it on and then fall out of the top of it. So I’ve given up going in the water.

I can’t comment on a week of days like you did. I have had a hard time remembering what day it is. For some reason Today Tuesday feels like Forgotten Friday. You were very brave to go shopping for a swimsuit, even if you did return it.

Glad to hear there is some progress on BigFoot, Dor. I know how you love shopping and this must be a tough withdrawal for you. Luckily, I don’t enjoy shopping at all and save a bundle that way, which my husband likes very much!

Well, my week was excellent (even amidst snow flurries) compared to yours for the simple reason that I did NOT have to buy a swimsuit. Ahhh, I hate shopping for one of those. But I am oh so glad to hear Big Foot is shrinking even if it’s nominally. Yay for that!

Brave may be the right word Anne…. trying swimsuits on is a totally degrading activity. Hope you found Friday o.k……. 🙂

Thanks for thinking of me and the BigFoot… it definitely looks like it is shrinking, especially in the morning. It is restoring my hope for being able to walk normally again but we shall see. Snow flurries? Will Spring never decide to stay? Hugs, Dor

That is a perfect word for trying on swimsuits — degrading!! I was chicken and ordered mine on line.
I think I have my days straight again. I get discombobulated when John goes away.

I think the olden style of swim suit should make a come-back. They made it a lot easier to hide what you didn’t want to share with the world.

Funny… wish you could shop for me, Dor. Not my strong point. 🙂

I agree Ronnie…. olden style swim suits should be the new trend!

I hate swimsuit shopping–and wearing! But I figure when you are heavy, you are invisible, so it probably doesn’t matter what suit you wear. Argh.

Remaining invisible may be my constant goal! 🙂
