I am experimenting taking pictures with my brand new cell phone.
What do you think of these beauties?
Don’t they look like “fake fotos?”
I mean, they remind me of the old paint-by-number kits I used to love when I was a little girl.
Staying in the lines and making the colors pop were my goals.
Oh, the hours and the plans I made for framing and display.
I thought they were truly magnificent “originals.”
But then, here are my latest creations.
They were generated by nature and enhanced by “edit,” which can be just as much fun
as painting-by-numbers!
Your photos are gorgeous. Since my little camera died, I’ve been using my cell phone. It takes good pictures, but I still feel like it is in control, not me. Maybe I have camera-intimidation phobia. Good luck with yours.

Man, if this was your paint by numbers kit when you were young, your kit was much better than mine.

They are beautiful Dor :). I, too, loved paint my numbers. I wasn’t artistic at all, but I could colour really well, so it made me feel like an artist LOL.

I don’t know, Dor, my paint my number pictures were nowhere near as pretty as these are!

There is something remarkable and fantastic about the Virginia countryside in the Fall – you captured nature at her finest. It’s quiet and elegant, a place that I would love to walk. Nature gives us a lot to be thankful for and appreciate – Happy to see you again Dorann!

Nature is a much better color-er I think. 🙂 Thanks Cindy.

It’s just an Android but I’m beginning to love it. Thank you for asking.

Oh, we have so much in common. I was a super color-er in the old days and felt oh-so creative and talented because I could stay in the lines!

Let’s!! I’m used to being able to set the resolution to keep the size of each photo fairly small. My phone won’t do that, so I’m experimenting with ways to copy them smaller to a computer. It’s a work in progress.

Me too :). In fact, I’m a little OCD, so colouring outside of the lines was unacceptable LOL!

Hi again, Dor. It’s good to. be back to blogging and great to see your blog again. I went to an Apple seminar this week to learn about using the iPhone camera. I think YOU could have taught that class! You photos are beautiful.

You are a far greater photographer than I! I would have no idea how to keep the sizes in control.

Yes, they do look like fake photos but they are gorgeous! Husband and I recently got smarter phones and I have enjoyed taking photos as they seem really easy and come out better. My old paint-by-numbers were meant to be works of art too but never were. Cheers for the weekend!

LOL, I loved them too Dor – but I loved coloring books more :0). And then of course there were the paper dolls – god how I loved them. And the colorforms-remember those? See what today’s kids are missing out on with the iPhone apps ?!??! Lovely autumn photos this week, thanks!

Maybe our cell phone pics will enter the realm of artwork too. Meet you at our first gallery showing! 🙂

Yes! Coloring books! And paper dolls! My dad was a painter/paper hanger and he would give me his old wallpaper sample books so I could make clothes for the paper dolls. They were very well dressed in flocked, velvety, beautifully colored patterns. 🙂

Those wallpaper sample books! I’d forgotten them. They were the source of so much pleasure and so many projects — including the paper doll clothing.
Your photos really are lovely. I’m still using an old Samsung flip phone, and learning how to use a Canon camera, so I’m mostly ignorant of phone photography, or the apps available to edit the photos. I must have some sort of personality quirk. The thought of a self-driving car is obnoxious to me, because I love to drive, and I’d far rather sit and fiddle with camera settings than snap-and-go. Maybe I still have traces of the Pleistocene in me!
I got fired from my first real job (well, actually, I wasn’t hired after probation) because of an inability to stay within the lines. I need to rework that post, and put it up again. It’s a funny experience — in retrospect!

I also remember doing paint by numbers – and how I never actually got them framed though I always had plans to decorate my room with them.

Yes! I would love to read your post about not being hired because you couldn’t stay within the lines. I can tell you are truly a free spirit.

They look very natural to me, Dorann. I’d heard these new phones had excellent cameras and here’s the proof.
