I have a friend.
She has been my friend forever.
I can hardly believe that myself, but it is true.
We grew up playing paperdolls, hopscotch, riding bikes, trying on her big sister’s clothes.
We grew up “spending the night”, talking until 2AM about boys and dreams.
We grew up writing letters with real pens on paper and sent with stamps by snail mail.
We grew up, got married and had children.
And we grew up sharing – always sharing – all the joys and problems of life, love, and parenthood.
And the greatest thing is, we grew up always laughing.
And we are still growing up! And sharing – always sharing – all the joys and problems of life, love and aging.
She is my Oldest Best Friend Forever and her name is Kit.
She just sent me this card and I will cherish it – forever.
Wonderful. Good friends are a joy.

Sorry for the repeats, Dor. I switched to another browser, and now I see them. I thought a Halloween ghost was making me invisible.
If I say BOO, I hope you’ll hear me!

A different browser worked for five minutes. I’m on my phone now. I think I’ve become invisible.

Lovely, you’re very lucky. I have a friend from childhood but we are rarely in touch and certainly didn’t grow through our lives together.

This post made me smile :). Friends are such an important part of our lives, and a friendship that lasts that long is truly something to treasure. Unfortunately, I lost my best childhood friend to cancer at far too young an age, and I miss her still, but I have reconnected with some of my highschool friends over the last few years, and it’s like we were never apart.

We are both fortunate Jill. 🙂 There is no replacing that kind of friendship.

You are absolutely right Val. The relationship through time is special, but the history of experiences and growing up and growing old together is amazing.

I always love it when you comment Lil Brother! And of course, you would know just how special my friendship with Kit really is since you were there from the beginning.

I am so sorry you lost your best childhood friend Cindy. That is a hard thing. But I’ll bet your memories of the good times with her are sweet and reconnecting with some others helps.

I moved away from all my first best friends. The oldest friends I have now are from high school and college.
Unless you count my sisters.

Oh how I love this post! I too am blessed with a couple of forever friends who I grew up with. When you’ve been friends through thick and thin and everything else for over 50 years, that is truly a forever friend. One of my FF’s now lives a mere 1/2 mile away from me and we go walking together 2-3 times a week. We never run out of things to talk about!
