The Old Oldie Just Detailed
I discovered it is never too late for an adventure!
Aging is no barrier since there are surprising opportunities to experience new, wonderful and uplifting feelings that can leave a person dreaming in anticipation.
I suspect you are eagerly awaiting the details.
Bill and I bought a car.
That was fun, but not the dreamy exciting adventure in question.
We purchased a 2013 used car (with a lot of techie he-man gadgets). This car is old but new to us.
But no, that was not the adventure either.
To further explain this story it should be known that the new-old car is now Bill’s and I have inherited our 2006 old-oldie.
Certainly not the stuff of dreams huh?
But just as an aside, surely my giving up the new car will put me on your
list of sacrificing, saintly humans who give more than they receive.
To further qualify this story and to fill you in on the adventure,
It must be remembered that anything Bill touches gets kind of messy – meaning dusty and used-up looking (excluding Me of course).
Anyway, the brand New Used Car is now Bill’s to mess up,
and the Old Used Car is solely and exclusively MINE!
And the Old Used Car has been “detailed.”
AND THAT MY FRIENDS IS THE ADVENTURE!
I am beyond excited!
I have never had such work done before but I now have an old car that
- looks like new,
- buffed to a high shine,
- no dust,
- no pebbles
- and no mud on the floor boards,
- everything organized in the glove compartments,
- ancient papers discarded and only the most up to date easily accessible,
- bugs off the windshield and anywhere else they have collected,
- leftover food from feeding the critters at Safari Park vacuumed out of the window wells, and
- in other words, untouched by you-know-who!
O.K., I didn’t really expect them to organize my papers – or did I? That is a “detail” isn’t it?
I was beside myself with anticipation – like a young girl looking for a new dress to prepare for the prom, I kept imagining things.
Will I love it?
Will it look as good as I think it will?
Will the world see how beautiful it is?
Talk about an adventure! I know it’s not like rock climbing or skiing or even trampoline jumbing.
But WoooHooooo! Did you ever think of DETAILING an old car as an adventure?
Chi Dor. An adventure is an adventure is an adventure. Enjoy your newly detailed car.

There’s nothing like a clean car. Well, except maybe a clean car that starts reliably…

This is a funny post dorann. We also have his and her cars with strict rules for passengers! Only problem is, I have to keep them both up when they require inspections, insurance payments, re-licensing, oil changes etc. Where’s the justice??

Wait a minute! You guys did that backwards. The wife is always supposed to get the newer car, and you can tell Bill I said so LOL :). However, getting a full detail job is an exciting adventure for sure. I have never had that done, so I’m very envious. I’m a bit of a clean freak, and I can’t wait for the weather to get warm enough for me to give my car a thorough cleaning!! Enjoy your spotless car my friend :).

Nice wheels! Purchasing a nice “used” car is the way to go.

Hahaha! I just had to include that Cindy and inwardly teehee-ing that you “got it.” 🙂 Hope you are having a grand experience in France!

Think of it this way Al: Only the strong and able, the intelligent and responsible have your car care duties. You are a good man to have around!

I have groaningly given up the new car Cindy. Bill thinks I am sacrificing for him but I secretly don’t want it. There are too many buttons to push and things to learn. I love the little red car now that it is spotless and I am so happy not to have to re-adjust the driver’s seat anymore! Life is good. 🙂

Now I am really happy! I take it you think the red car in the photo is the new one! Nope – it’s the old oldie that was just “detailed.” I am very proud of it’s revitalization and the fact that she is all mine.

And red is one hell of a sexy colour :). Bill better watch out – the men are going to be chasing after you!

Why can’t you have the new old car, at least while the shine is still on it and the dust out of it???? Aha.. just read your note above. Your car looks great!! And sporty and clean. I don’t give a whit about the age of a car so long as it runs. Mine is usually full of art supplies or dog supplies or groceries or . . .but i love it when it is clean inside and out. Several times a year. Go ride around in yours and look cool!!!!

I can totally understand your excitement. I don’t drive as you know but always thought that if I did it would be so nice to have a car that would be clean and tidy, except for dog hair probaby. David was a lot like Bill, anything he touched tended to get messy too.

Love the new/old car Dora. You can’t have another dog now because it will get messed up Or will it? I bet you would train him to appreciate your lovely clean car,I know I would. However, I don’t have that problem as I have not driven since moving to Crete (left hand drive) haven’t got the nerve to drive on the other side of the road. John keeps our car as clean as possible in this dusty country. Koko jumps straight in and onto the floor of the car. So someone must have trained him to do that before we had him. Enjoy driving your new car Dora.

You’ll be tooling around in detailed style! Looks wonderful. My daughter just purchased a new for her used car and is selling her old one and guess what? She just had it detailed yesterday. It looks too good to sell now!

I don’t know one car from another and have never cared about age either…. it’s shine and order that get me…. or at least the “look.” Bill used to have that patina too and after all these years, there are still vestiges remaining. 🙂

Yes, dog hair is on my approved messy list.

I am still on a dog search for the perfect match. When that happens, who cares about the car? The dog will take precedence. 🙂 And I don’t blame you Rita about driving on the other side of the road. I would be terrified too.

Isn’t it amazing what they can do to clean up a dusty old car? I plan now to have this detailing thing done about twice a year :)- just to lift my spirits.

I share in your excitement at your detailed car. John and I are sharing his car right now. Its purpose in life is to carry trains, big trains, the kind you ride on. Thankfully, it is in human mode at the moment. Enjoy your new/old car!

I do expect to create a big sensation in our neighborhood. Shiny cars are scarce since we all mostly live on dirt or gravel roads. 🙂

I am impressed. The most I ever do is to vacuum my car. Detailing it is another level of accomplishment. I agree about not having to move the seat. Enjoy your “new” red 🚘!!
I have a red small car and love it.

I do love a red car…. it can be seen among all the blues that match the sky, greens that match the woods, white for the clouds, and beiges and blacks that fade into the landscape. Safer with red. If I could find orange that would be great too or any neon color that would stand out in the crowd.
