There Was a Little Girl
February 22, 2016 by dorannrule

A chalk drawing of a little girl
always hung in a living room space.
She’s all grown up now of course,
but it still holds an honored place.
The little girl was me before
and hangs again on our living room wall,
a reminder of who I once was growing up
and who I am still, after all.

A beautiful pastel of a young child with dreams aplenty and who many years later saw her dreams become golden nuggets of life’s treasures. Happy Sunday Dorann!

Thank you Rita. I tend to forget the drawing is there but a friend was over and asked who the girl in the picture was. And that dredged up a whole lot of memories. 🙂

And who we still are, for sure. We are the everyday of our existence, and the best of us still play and are full of wonder, if not wounded some along the way. Are you, dear Dor, are a cutie pie.

I love your thoughts on this Mike! Thank you for seeing through life’s enforced changes that still leave the original essence of us as we once were!

I am an old lady now Jill, but I can’t help smiling when you call me “cutie pie”. Mom called me that a long time ago.

Oooooh! I never thought of the “doll” image. It was always just me – a young girl with dreams and reactions to life. 🙂

We are every second of who we have ever been. And for you that means Shirley Temple cute!

Sooooo adorable, but I also see a little girl dreaming of adventure, and I think you have had a few since then haven’t you? 😃

The thing I find so amazing about aging is you never feel any older inside.

Such a cute pic of you Dora and a sweet poem too! I remember pictures like that of my cousins hanging on their parents walls. There may even be one of me somewhere, I am about to be 55 after all! Were they chalk for real or a process that makes them appear that way? I remember in my cousins pictures, their cheeks and lips looked really pink. Anyway, thanks for sharing yours!

Dor, I just knew you were a sweetie when you were little and your inner child still comes out to play, doesn’t she? Both the picture and the poem are just adorable.

The little girl stays the same in all of us I think. I’ll bet we would have been friends when we were kids. 🙂

My Mom told me they knew an artist who asked to do the chalk interpretations of me and my brother – copied from photographs. Unfortunately, the chalk version of my brother was water damaged but I do have the original photos. 🙂

It’s always fun to look back and try to figure out what we were thinking when a photo was taken. Thanks MJ!

Thanks Kim… I love it that you could recognize the “me” in that early version. 🙂

I like the way you put that Mike… that “we are every second of who we have ever been.” As for Shirley, I could never really tap dance. 🙂
