Stop, Look and Listen
February 14, 2016 by dorannrule
Sometimes I drive down my country road and simply have to stop and take a picture.
It’s not that there is anything magnificent to snap.
And it’s not the glorious foliage or even the way the light hits a leaf.
It boils down to a “feeling” and a need to listen to the world.

I’m so glad you like to share your countryside. I, too, am blessed to live in an area that pulls at my heart.

I so deeply understand. Missing the quiet of Michigan woods. You are blessed.

Its the quiet, or the breeze, or the warble of a blackbird, or even the rustle of the trees, the sound of lambs in the spring or the cows mooing and countless other soft sounds which I stop and listen for, when walking country lanes away from blaring traffic Dora. And of course here in Crete the lap of the waves by the sea.

Beautiful! I’m glad you do. Your pictures transport me from my citified living room on a cold day to wide-open spaces where I can reach up and touch the sky.

Beautiful photos! I smile when I recognize (from our visit with you) something in one of your photos, whether it’s from inside your beautiful home or an outdoor scene.

Oh, your words are almost better than any photo Rita. And how I would love to visit Crete and listen to the “lap of the waves by the sea.”

I love the peace and quiet of rural living, but sometimes crave the conveniences and action of a bigger city. Dual personality maybe?

I do believe we made the right decisions Anne – both living in idyllic surroundings and old enough to appreciate them. 🙂

No, not dual at all. The upside of this city is everything we want is all around us. Everything, which is something that drove my city-born wife nuts in Michigan. She’s a Caly girl from the suburbs of Los Angeles. Deer running around the front yard was so amazing to her.

Oh, I’m right there with you. Often I’m just driving or even riding in the car and I ‘see’ something that just needs to be photographed. It’s not necessarily what someone else would think camera worthy just a feeling. These photos are beautiful, Dor!

But if I did that I’d never get anywhere. Just need to enjoy the moment as it passes by. 😉
