Three Gourmet Chefs Serve Dinner!
Our son and grandgirls arrived January 1st, 2016 to celebrate Christmas and to welcome in the New Year.

Testing a New Back Roll
There was one hot political discussion. Gifts were exchanged with lots of laughter, there were giggles trying out a new exercise thing, and my Star Wars pet robot is now up and running and making R2D2 sounds while bumping into things. The grandgirls put that together since I am technologically challenged.
They were full of happy surprises too, and as I sat back, pampering the poor old Big Foot, I was amazed to watch “the kids” cook a whole meal for our family. That was a first!

The Grandgirls Cooking
Mongolian Chicken from an online recipe was the challenge that required dedicated chopping and mixing. I was stunned by the sight of the three working together so harmoniously in the kitchen – no longer babies but grown women.
“But, how good could this meal really be?” I wondered. An hour went by and there were some delectable aromas drifting around.
Suddenly there we were having the most delicious family dinner!
How could this be? How could they have grown up so quickly?
What happened to the babies who used to play jacks with me on the kitchen floor?
About the 3rd day we began to run out of “vittles” and planning a visit to the market. “We’ll go,” the kids all chimed and son and the three first went running for exercise on the Chessie Nature Trail and then to the store to replenish the food stock.
We played Guesswork for more howling and laughter and watched four or five old Star Wars films to prepare for going to the newest release in town (Lexington, Virginia).
There was something about this Christmas delayed, combined with welcoming in the New Year, that is “one for the books” or in this case, one for the blog, to be remembered for a long time to come.
Glad it was all good! The political nonsense must have been regarding who is least loser of the presidential candidates. I will write-in my dog. He has more common sense and brain power. 😁

How very fortunate you are! Sometimes our best Christmases have been early or late. This year Son came early to celebrate Love is all that matters. And what a great way to start the new year. Lovely girls! Take care, Dor!

You are probably packed and en route to Costa Rica already, but if you get this, I wish to thank you for the lovely assessment of my grandgirls. The robot (Bebe 8 I think is its name) is so cute I am getting attached. 🙂

Yep, getting pampered by the grandgirls is such a treat. Big Foot has a few distinct advantages I think. 🙂

Yes, it was a strange meal with ginger and garlic overcasts. The grandgirls did a great job of it. The one in charge watches cooking contestant shows and is “into” the whole chef thing. BigFoot and I truly enjoyed the whole scene and the end result was delicious. 🙂

Thanks Julie! It has been a wild week even though I am more housebound than ever before with the BigFoot boot thing. This prompted the grandgirls to really dig in and help and I love them for that. They are great cooks too. Who knew? Love back, Dorothy 🙂

Well worth the wait Dor… a loving, homey celebration! I couldn’t agree more that its one of those days we file in drawer of happy memories to pull out on not so happy days in the future. P.S. I love your pet robot.

Love it Dorann! There is something amazing, comforting and surprising when the reins of certain things start turning over to the next generation – bless their hearts. These young ladies seem happy, healthy and in good spirits. Got to say, they look like identical triplets.

Nothing like having the ‘babies’ catering to you and you suddenly realize that they are no longer babies. Being with family and loved ones is the best thing. Have a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Sounds like fun my extra sister. And how quickly the years fly by. Like your girls my grandsons are now no longer babies or even children but are young men. So glad that you could all get together at this time. And often something delayed is all the better for being delayed. Happy New Year Dor. Hugs

Hi Patti. I am wearing a big soft cast boot which makes my foot look like something an astronaut would wear. I call it Big Foot. It is to heal a “bruised bone” via vegetating for 6 to 8 weeks. I am into week 3. Thanks for asking! 🙂

You are right my sister accross the world. The son and kids depart today – one to California, one to Michigan, and two further north in Virginia. We are all well fed and glad to have been together for the extended holiday.
