There is a trick (I have learned the hard way) to staying fit while being unbalanced and dragging around a cement block (the big Air-Cam Walker Boot attached to Dor’s foot).
Actually, there are two tricks to gaining strength and even losing weight.
One is for the upper body called the GWee Gym which is a portable elasticized thing. You can establish some rather nice routines with this neat little gadget but I have only used it once in these first weeks of adjustment.

This is because my upper body is too tired
from dragging around the cement block on my lower body.
Yesterday, however, I discovered a build-up-your-LEGS-exercise that, with practice, will turn me into the Wonder Woman I always wanted to be.
I know this sounds like a modern fairy tale, but if you are interested in a Magical Muscle Building Technique (even if you have no Air-Cam Cement Block Boot on your leg) read on:
Note: The electrical go-carts at the big grocery stores
are the Exercise Machines of Choice.
- Climb on a go-cart and tootle around filling the basket to your heart’s content.
- Go all the way to the back of the store.
- At this point you should run out of batteries.
- Now walk to the front of the store.
- Pick up a regular push cart you have to manage on your own two feet.
- Now walk it to the back of the store to meet your dead go-cart.
- Transfer all the many items you have purchased from the electric cart to the “real” cart.
- Now walk to the front of the store again and pick up another “charged” cart and finish shopping.
- If there is any battery life left, drive the 2nd electric cart back to the real cart and transfer all remaining items again.
- And finally, walk the real cart to the front of the store to check out.
Note: This routine does not even include the walk to the car or loading and unloading the stuff in the lot and at home.

I have noticed I am losing weight and getting stronger hips and legs.
I’m sure it’s because of all these magical exercises so I will keep doing them right into the New Year!
Tomorrow starts the New Year! Time to roll over on the right side again!
HAPPY NEW YEAR my friends. Happy New Year!
Love your exercise plan. I found that keeping the weight on my arms balanced helps, so I lift my tea cup first with my right hand and take the second sip by lifting with my left hand then it’s back to the righthand for sip number three. Note this also works with coffee, beer or wine…

You are hilarious Dora. as I have said many times before I love your sense of humour. I will try this exercise plan but very mildly and lift my eyebrows first left and then right, maybe it will get rid of the creases eh. Happy New Year !!

Happy New Year to you too my friend :). I haven’t done my exercise routine in about two weeks because of getting ready for Christmas and having company, but my Apple watch shows me that running around every day like a chicken with my head cut off sure makes my steps taken in a day add up!! I have been doing between 6,000 and 10,000 steps a day!!

The best exercise I do is pushing away from the table. I don’t do it nearly often enough to accomplish any meaningful goal. Happy New Year!

Well, good for you, Dor! I think I have gained a couple of pounds over the holidays but I am ready for the new year to start eating less. (Sorry about the cement block you must drag around…not very lady-like but I am sure you carry it off with panache! Happy New Year and thanks for the visits and comments to my humble blog which I have been neglecting. Cheers for 2016!

Happy New Year Dor. For all the good reasons I have missed out on blogs for the past six months or so. What happened to your foot

Now that’s some exercise plan! Sorry if I don’t join your ‘gym’ on this one but I don’t care to drag around one of those cement blocks on my foot. So…instead my lose weight, gain muscle plan has been dragging around a 17-lb grandbaby in my arms and getting up and down off the floor during playtime. It works! 😉

Lugging a grandbaby is also a great alternative to lugging a cement block! 🙂 And a whole lot more fun…..

I am not entirely sure what happened to my foot Judith. Ditto for my dr. However an MRI shows Bone Marrow Edema and the Podiatrist says it is a bruised bone. So I am in a soft cast for 6 to 8 weeks and hopefully it will heal nicely. Thanks for asking and Happy New Year to you sister-friend. 🙂

Thanks Julie! Cheers and Happy New Year to you too. Life is full of trip-ups (you can quote me on that) and this Big Foot thing is one of ’em. We do need a chance to just talk and catch up don’t we? Love back….. Dor

I have never been able to conquer that exercise about pushing away from the table. I get the “push” part but I can still “reach.” 🙂

I would say on an average day I do about 6,000 steps. During the summer when I went for a walk at lunch every day it was closer to 10,000, but I don’t get much exercise in the winter so my steps will go down now LOL.

I was mostly on the 6,000 happy step level in my pre-big-foot-boot days….wishing for 10,000. Now I am in the 600 gimpy step level…..wishing for 2,000. 🙂 Sigh.

Well Dor, I guess with the holidays I’ve missed something. Im guessing you’ve somehow broken your foot (see what an excellent detective I am?!) and hope you’re well on the way to being fully mended. Loved your exercise program 😊 Happy New Year to you!

Almost a broken foot but they say it’s a bruised bone that is only noted on an MRI as “Bone Marrow Edema.” This caused swelling and pain. Hence, the big boot I refer to as “Big Foot.” Things are looking a bit better now after two weeks of wearing it. Another 4 to 8 weeks to go depending on progress. Thanks so much for asking Tina.
