There is always a sense of the past as you walk down Main Street in Lexington, Virginia. Parts of the sidewalks are still paved with the original carved bricks and wherever you look there are restored old buildings and signs of times long ago.
Then why is it always so surprising when I come across an old car parked right there on Main?
And why do I feel I am in a time machine?
Isn’t this the most gorgeous shiny Chevy? I am not sure of the year but I know it was “before my time.”
It is being used to advertise a local Bed and Breakfast (502 Main Street)) and if the B&B is as beautiful as the Chevrolet, I would highly recommend it.
Enjoyed your piece, but alas, I don’t know what carved bricks are! Can you help? http://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/09/08/the-old-and-unrested/

It looks to be in nice shape. I hope I can say the same for myself when I’m that age.

Thanks for sharing this. I love old cars. My husband tells me I have to work on one if I buy one…so there goes my dream.

Wow! This IS beautiful and what a great way to advertise a B&B. Whoever owns it deserves to be in the “smart” category! You know what, I just need to get out of this shop more.

I had a 1938 Ford for a number of years…Yes I love the truck and they did such an amazing restoration job.

The characteristic bricks which have become iconic in Lexington, Virginia were made in the Chilhowie Brick Plant from 1880-1910. The textured patterns in the bricks were designed to provide a firm footing for both horses and pedestrians. The bricks can be found throughout the city and along the paths and walkways of Washington & Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute. See http://www.lexingtonbrick.com

My late husband and I once bought a motorbike and side car ,the sidecar was open topped and shaped like a bullet, colour silver and red I loved riding in that side car where I could get my mirror out a retouch my lipstick before we reached our destination . .

There is something mesmerizing about an old car restored to brand new condition…. or even an old car in worn out rusty condition. They stop me cold in my tracks. 🙂 I will check out the Velocity channel… may not get it here as I have not seen it available before.
