This is Photo Story #2 for the Five Photos, Five Stories challenge. The rules are to post a photo a day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph. Oh yes, and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge. Today I nominate Dianna of These Days of Mine. This should be fun!
I was saving this photo for something
I just didn’t know for what.
It looks like a gypsy caravan in
the midst of a mystery plot
But it’s only a home place for chickens!
And I smile as I drive alongside
at the clucking mass of hens pecking
with a horse and goats grazing nearby.
Gypsy Chicken! Nice.

I love this, Dor. It reminded me of the Geico commercial with the chicken who rides the train. Have you seen it? It’s hilarious!

Yes, and there are goats and a horse in the next pasture! 🙂 I think the human in the group makes goat cheese and of course, sells eggs. 🙂

So perfect Dorann, your photograph is of the neatest variety that city folks don’t see too often. Loved the story, the chicken caravan – very cool!

These mobile coops are great for moving the chickens around to clean (de-bug) and fertilize new pastures. Our friends have one and when a hawk flies over they all squawk and run underneath – very funny!

I had never seen one before… interesting idea.

I kept thinking of the one with Dorothy and the Wizard in The Wizard of Oz. 🙂

I just learned from Eliza that this is a “mobile coop”, enabling the farmer to move the chics around and keep things clean and fertilize new pastures. Interesting!

I can just imagine these chicks hopping up into the caravan and rushing to find the most comfortable spot, especially if its raining outside.

What kind of hens are those? How many do you have? Looks like a dandy set up.

They are not my hens Susan but I pass by a small farm en route to town. The chicken caravan is in one field and in the field next to it there is a horse and a lot of goats. It’s hard to concentrate on the road. 🙂
