Oh man – that’s early even for your area!! Although it’s been really cold in Richmond, unseasonably so. We’re in Atlanta right now and it’s cold here too.

Fast times! Up where I live, too. We went from 75 degrees on Veterans Day to to snow and usual sub-freezing now.

A bit different from the beauty in Florida, but beautiful nonetheless.

I should have no complaints then Mark! Sub-freezing already?

And isn’t this all so strange Nancy? I am used to mild temps here right through Christmas.

Oh, yes. But the elevator goes back over 50 tomorrow, I heard on the news, then down to 30 on Tuesday and Wednesday, snow coming Thursday and Friday.

Are these taken with the new camera and lens? Great shots. We are hoping that the “final mow” is in the near future. It’s amazing how long those old oaks hang on to their leaves.

Time, they are a-changing- too fast, Dor. I do love that last scene from your porch. But that’s easy for me to do from the confines of our Florida home. 😉

Our last mowing and first snow blowing was about 12 hours apart. I am pretty sure that’s a record. It’s very beautiful but…

I’m not a fan of snow, unless I can stay home and watch from the comfort of my home. Your pictures are fabulous, Dor! I love the shot of the low clouds over the mountains…stunning! Thank you so much for sharing a slice of Virginia! xo

Yaaaay!!!! You are back! Yes, the last three photos were taken with the new camera. I’m still struggling with closeups but hoping to get a new “zoomer” lens for Xmas.

Florida! That’s where I grew up Judy so I know the smug kind of feeling I used to get whilst reading about the snowbirds’ suffering “up north.” I’m still a Fla girl at heart but always excited over the first snow and I love feeling cozy when the weather outside is frightful. 🙂

I just finished your Xmas card Laura and said I am wishing you would hurry up and move back here where you belong. Yours is the only card ready to go. 🙂 And seriously, when are you coming home?

P.S. Laura – You are right. They are donkeys in that other “mysterious alien” post. My friend consulted a vet friend who also identified ’em.:)

Wow! Mowing and snow blowing in just 12 hours! The weather is changing faster there than here. Are we ready?

The countryside offers endless foto ops for sure Jill and I’m so delighted you enjoy them. You will definitely have to plan a visit back to VA. I can tell you get homesick sometimes. 🙂

Oh, but I do love the snow. It is gorgeous!!! That last picture is so comforting. We had snow here as well this weekend. Fabulous. Drove to the mountain’s edge with the kids and took them sledding. So much fun. The drive out to the Cascades is so stunningly beautiful that it actually brought me to tears. Happy tears. Seeing every branch of every tree, giant conifers hugging the roadways and forging up into the heavens all covered with gleaming white snow — it reaches my soul. I wonder, will this link work?
I put a photo in my blog’s media library. Not sure if it will work, but if you can see it, I took this while my husband was driving us home. The thing I love most about driving in the snow is that it’s so quiet. Peaceful. Sometimes the snow just doesn’t make a sound and you feel as if you’re in this happy little limbo, free from the cares of the world, there in your car.
