My blogger friend, Rita Roberts asked if there were other views from my home in rural Virginia.
And Rita yes, there are – and thank you so much for asking. I would love to share.
Although our home is cottage-humble, the views make it a palace. The house is 25 years old now and still the castle of my dreams!
The view to the Northwest from our living room windows is of a thick forest. I call it The Forest Primeval. Sometimes I can see the Allegheny Mountains through the trees. And sometimes there are phenomenal sunsets and wild birds and wild creatures who wander by.
And there is the road home. I can see who comes to visit. And I love surprises like people-family and friends and deer, black bear and turkeys.
But I love the view from my kitchen window best with the grand expanse of Virginia’s ever changing Blue Ridge Mountains far in the distance.
Having come from apartment kitchens with no view at all, and other kitchen windows that overlooked parking lots, I was smitten.
I am still in awe and making pot roast does not seem quite so mundane anymore.
Gorgeousness!!! Love the first photo the most!!

Magical! The Blue Ridge Mountain area is absolutely beautiful.
I should go out there more often. It’s not that far….

Thank you Dora, What spectacular views and well titled. I love those Blue Ridge Mountains and I love views in general ,in fact, Wherever I live there has to be a mountain view I can’t stand a flat view. I originate from the back- streets of Birmingham England was evacuated into the country during WWll so this is why I love the country and appreciate the wonderful views where I now live in Crete. Thanks again for answering my request Wonderful !

You are so welcome Rita. I would love to see your wonderful views in Crete too. As an aside, my good friend, Janet, was a child in London and evacuated during WWII to the country (Lincolnshire).

The pot roast can always wait a bit while I’m gazing into space so the kitchen window means freedom! Thanks for your sweet comment Barbara. I like the misty ones too.

Mary, you are so genuinely kind. And yes, I sometimes forget how astounding it is to wake up to this country life and surroundings. It is why I started this blog but sometimes I get diverted.

🙂 After 25 years, the view has not dimmed but is more like my life’s “backdrop.” Then the sun hits the clouds a certain way or the sky turns pink, or a storm moves in and the backdrop becomes center stage drama.

Oh how fun to see the different views. And to ponder why we’re more attracted to certain views than others. I have been thinking a lot about perspective this morning. And trying to get out for a walk–if I can stop reading blogs! Happy Memorial Day weekend, Dor.

Thank you Shofar and I agree that I am truly blessed to be living here in rural Virginia. I don’t think I ever blogged about how I cam to enjoy country living as it was a slow transition from city girl clothes and attitudes to admiration for the simpler life. Thank you for the inspiration. It may be my next post. 🙂
