Would you believe I have no idea how to reblog my own blogs?
This one is special because it is a short video that was designed to teach something serious.
It is an absolute must-see – an old and short-but-good story that is very special to Bill and me.
I think it is called Spaghetti Grows on Trees so I have made that my link.
Do click on the link for an experience from the past.
You’re right, Dor! It’s still as catchy as ever. I want to believe it yet!

Hilarious! Thanks for sharing; I’d never heard of this. Reminded me a little of the War of the Worlds prank…

It’s our favorite too Julie. The interesting thing is how many people in England at that time had never tasted spaghetti and they believed the story. 🙂

It was really done in all seriousness and many English people believed it. 🙂

Great minds think alike. I think I actually believed it for a moment when I first saw it…. so dead pan serious.

That is absolutely charming. I loved the film, the tone of the announcer, and the fact that the whole set-up was a joke of the viewing public. Wonderful!

Good one!! My boss decided to be a smart ass this morning and tell me I was fired, so I said, “Ok, bye!! And don’t call me for help when you are panicking.” HAHAHA!

Hello Dorann, thanks for posting this on April Fools’ Day. i remember reading about it a couple of years ago and it really DID fool so many people. To this day, I am sure there are those who actually believe that pasta grows on trees. I am a first time visitor who also lives in a small town in VA. You are welcome to visit our blog anytime as we too enjoy new visitors.

Even without watching it — I’ll have to play it later — your story is priceless! What a fun month this is. My kids actually understand the meaning of April Fool’s this year, and it’s so sweet. “I saw a reindeer out the window!” 🙂

They did it with such deadpan seriousness that people actually believed in harvesting the spaghetti from the trees!

Thanks Sheryl! That April Fool’s film was done so many years ago (not quite 100 though) and remains funny today.

It’s a real oldie-but-goodie “short” film and I’m so glad you enjoyed it Cindy.

I almost believed when we saw it the first time. Now we laugh out loud and are so impressed that it was done by the BBC in such utter seriousness that many people actually did believe that spaghetti grows on trees. 🙂
