I got my dog “fix” last week with the arrival of family who brought
their family dog.
Noche (pronounced No-Chay) is a beautiful German Shepherd who stole my heart.
Or maybe my heart was ready to be stolen missing Rozie.
Noche found Rozie’s toy bin and brought out each piece with
loving care and then claimed a weather beaten hedgehog as her own.
She claimed Rozie’s washed and ready-to-wear orthopedic bed too
and nestled in.
I like to think she claimed us as hers along with all the rest.
My lovely niece and little brother and sister-in-law were here too.
What a joy to see them all.
But Noche stole the show and somehow I think she knew –
she helped to heal my broken heart.
Dor,
This is such a wonderful post.
Noche is a beautiful pup.
You have given me a warm heart this morning too.
Always, Thank you-

Could there be a dog in your future? I sure hope so. Rozie would approve.

It’s comforting that Rozie’s lovies could be passed on to another member of the family. Absolutely, keep these so you can remember and be ready for another visit.

Some times it is all we need to get by, maybe your girl sent word for you to feel a little joy, as heartbreak really does suck and cripple you. I am glad you all had a wonderful time and I know you showered this dog with attention and really isn’t that what we all need Dor to feel love and give love. I will be in your spot when it is time for my girl to go. I too will need a dog fix now and then or maybe I will buy a cow XO

Oh, there’s no doubt those furbabies know when our heart needs some healing. When my father-in-law died a few weeks ago, Gypsy stayed close to my husband whenever he was at the shop. She really helped him get through those first few days. Our four-legged friends are so loyal and loving.

Yes, Noche looks so sad I spent my whole time trying to make her happy. She probably knew and planned it that way. 🙂

“Never say never” but Bill and I are looking forward to the freedom that comes without responsibility. On the other hand, there is that big empty hole in our lives. Who knows what the future will bring?

Rozie’s lovies are now living with Noche. I think of it as passing treasures down from one doggie generation to the next. I will be shopping for new babies though for when Noche comes back or another pup comes for a visit. 🙂

You are so right Rita about the house being too quiet without our best friend here. The urge for another dog will surely never leave, but Bill and I are relishing a sense of freedom now. So “we shall see.”

You’ve got that right Cindy. Noche is definitely a sweetheart, but she lives 4 hours away. Still, even for that short visit, she was like a tonic. She almost seemed to know there was sadness here and she set out to make us laugh.

XO! I love your idea of buying a cow Eunice! Although hugging a cow would not be quite the same as hugging JT. Noche was just the thing we needed to remind us to smile and even laugh at some of her antics. We loved her almost instantly but she lives 4 hours away and her pawrents work, so I doubt we will be seeing her often. Now is the time for Bill and I to try roaming around a bit to experience freedom. We will simply have to hug each other.

It’s so very true that our four legged friends seem to know exactly what is wrong and what to do to help. Gypsy is so so special. I can just tell by looking at the photos you post and how lucky you both were to find her.

Your blog made tears come as I remember how it feels to loose pets. It’s a process.

Thanks so much Donna! It is so nice to hear from you and it helps to be reminded I am not alone. Getting caught up in the pain of losing a beloved pet can make grieving a very solitary process.

I understand that conundrum. Trust me I didn’t need a 4th cat. One is diabetic and that involves 2 shots a day. Now I have another 20 year commitment and I am not sure I’ll live that long. I guess I need the hole filled but every once in a while I wish we could take off and not worry. If you can get enough “dog fixes” through friends it may see you through. Cats are a little less work but you still worry they are sick.

It is just a weakness for animals Kate – has to be that. I am considering dog-sitting for free to get my “dog fixes” without full time responsibility.
