March 24, 2013.
The first day of spring has already come and gone,
but not winter.
Another snow storm is already here.
We are ready.
Ready for the wood stove again, and
a generator that looks tired but willing,
with bread, milk and staples in the pantry,
and dog food and woofer snacks too.
Will the power disappear again?
It’s winter in spring in my part of Virginia.
Brrrr, that is all I have to say about the latest snow storm that is sending us golf ball size snowflakes. Even the birds and squirrels are protesting at the feeders.

Oh, it is really beautiful but too cold for me. May spring return soon for you! Stay safe and warm.

Unbelievable. It does look quite beautiful though. Hope Spring breaks through soon.

These photos actually make me feel a bit homesick – we’re spending part of this winter in Arizona. But I’ll be back in Alberta soon, and I expect I’ll see many more snow days like yours before winter finally leaves.

Whoa! Golf ball sized snowflakes? I would like to see that.

It’s pretty but enough is enough right? Luckily we didn’t get it this time, but I highly doubt we are done here either!!

If it’s still winter in spring, does it mean that when spring comes that it could extend into summer? Just wondering . . . We’ve been having erratic weather here, too. Sunny days interspersed with rainy days. . .

Perhaps a little exagerated…..more like ping pong size. HA! Any this time of the year are unwelcome. Our birds are protesting as well as the squirrels. Had to go for more food for them.

Beautiful photos! We had sleet yesterday here in southeast VA, and a dusting of snow in the flowerbeds. But I think we’re all ready for spring and warmer weather!

Same here, my friend. Same here. My view outside looks the same as yours! Wondering where spring went and how long it’s going to stay away.

I think we are getting used to the snowstorms. This one melted in one day. Roads are cleared! Maybe springtime is en route. 🙂

I wouldn’t be surprised if you are right Liz, about it being summer in spring. Another blog post maybe. It has to be global warming. 🙂

We were all prepared for more power outages but that didn’t happen. And today, there was a big melt. Roads are clear and we’re crossing our fingers for springtime.

We are better off than some aren’t we mama? Our snow melted today so we can drive! That’s the kind of snow to have.

A beautiful snow that melts the next day is perfect. And that’s what we got! Hurrah. My heart’s desire is to have such a snow storm when it’s 95 degrees out mid-summer. 🙂

Definitely pretty and better yet, it all melted in one day! 🙂

Thanks Patti. We are a.o.k. and guess what? The snow melted, the sun came out, and we let the wood stove die down. Even the daffodils are happy again.

My friend lived in Alberta for 3 years and she would write to me about the huge snows there. This storm looked menacing but turned out to be just pretty. It mostly all melted today! 🙂

Signs of spring now Kathy… supposed to be in the 60’s for Easter. Hurrah! Just keep warm and watch for the first robins. Sage advice I know. Ha!

I’m in Virginia too….and still praying for Winter to stop sitting on Spring.
