Ribbons of darkening clouds
above Virginia’s Blue Ridge mountains;
a line of sunlit hilltop vegetation,
leading to a fading foreground.
Look closely and you will see
defining lines.
Nature’s perfect stripes upon an
ever changing canvas.

I looked closely at the defining lines when I looked in the mirror this morning — I liked the ones in your beautiful photo of the Blue Ridge mountains much better. 😉 Lovely poem.

Hahahaha! Didn’t someone say, “Our faces are the canvases of life” ? I made that up. I’ll bet my defining lines are deeper than yours! 🙂

Surreal is a great word and it just defines the world I saw as I walked around snapping pictures. Thanks coastalcrone. 🙂

Thanks bella… sometimes I think this blog is really all about the mountain view from my kitchen window – in all it’s various iterations. In 24 years I have never ceased to be amazed at the changes to the picture, and all of them wrought by nature.

Oh I’m so glad you said that mama! Poetry was always my favorite form of writing. I had forgotten how satisfying it is but have this blog to thank (and you) for the reminder. 🙂
