I have a regular walking route through a quiet residential area in town. Well, at least I USED to have a regular walking route. Life has presented too many distractions lately with the horrible storm attack. And immediately thereafter, our son and family paid us one last visit before their permanent move to California. So I have not taken my walk recently.
I wonder if the old tree and the old shed still stand together. The storm turned over bigger trees and crushed sturdier sheds all around our area.
I do love the big tree cozied up to the old storage shed. It got so close its trunk actually flattened against the walls in a giant hug. As I stroll by I ponder which will fall first or if they will fall together. They both seem so very old.
I wonder if people look at my husband and me that way – that old couple still holding each other up.
Reminds me of the song, “I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends.” 🙂

Interesting comment when applied to people: Who will fall first or will they fall together? Mmm.

I am seeing this a new way. Thanks for giving me a look through your loving eyes. I hope they held each other well throughout the storms.

Thanks Nancy! That old tree and shed always surprise me. Tomorrow I will walk again, hoping they are still there and standing.

Together would be more romantic and would make a better story for a blog. 🙂 Thanks Lilly.

I sure hope they are still standing!! They both seem very strong to me, just like I think you and your husband are :).

I will check today. I will be sad if they are down, but they look a lot older than my husband and me, so I won’t get too depressed if the storm finally got ’em. Thanks Cindy! 🙂

Very dear. I almost cried – well a big “almost”.

I’m not sure how I went from humor to pathos, but somehow that happened. I think it
was the freak storm that got everybody thinking about mortality and looking at things
in new ways. Thanks for almost crying though… you may have caught the fever. 🙂

I admire couples that have stood the test of time. It’s nice to be included in the group of older couples that have worked hard and still have a partner to hold us up when times are hard. I really like the comparison of the photo to lovers. I hope the “Old Lovers” are still standing.

I had all intentions of checking on the old lovers today Lori, but got sidetracked with some of the storm cleanup in our yard. I hope they are still standing too – the shed and the tree -so very close together that the tree flattened its trunk as it grew. They are amazingly like the lifelong partners you mention, holding each other up when times are hard.

Sorry to hear about your bad storm. They are frightening aren’t they? I hope your clean up goes well and that the Old Lovers are still standing. 🙂
