She is a true blue Lassie-type named Rozie.
She will probably never save my life,
nor will she disappear so I can cry, “Rozie, Come Home!”
This dog I love prefers to sleep.
She sleeps all day and all night.
She is sleeping now.
But, sometimes I do wake her up
to add some excitement to her life
like a belly rub or a little conversation.
She was a rescue dog destined for a killing shelter,
saved by my beautiful niece,
who eventually led her to us.
So when I wake Rozie up,
I ask, “Where did you start life? and
Did they name you Rozie? and
How do you like it here with us?”
She rolls over on her back.
I take that to mean she is content.
And of course, there is always the sleeping.
The vet says she is probably 13, old for a
big dog.
So maybe she deserves to sleep.
She’s sleeping now.
I think I will join her.
Beautiful gal! How cool that you rescued her.

I too am glad that you found each other and are true friends. I love the idea of a rescue dog. My son recently adopted one for his son – well they have had Daisy for several months now as it was a Christmas present. And they all think they have found the perfect dog/people.

Thanks Lilly! Actually it was my niece who did the rescue and then we came in. Rozie is a true “Lady” and fits right in to our lives.

Yes Judith, isn’t it odd how sometimes the perfect match between dogs and people just happens? Rozie happened just when we needed an older canine friend who would fit right into our lives and Daisy sounds like another winner for your son and family.

Thanks so much Grandfallswoman! We hope this dog’s life is happy and comfortable – and if her sleeping habits are any indication, we’re succeeding. 🙂

This sounds familiar. She could be a cat. She has all the qualities — ability to sleep at any time, in any place and in an instant! Oh yes, and eat too. She sounds wonderful. There are so many wonderful animals out there waiting for homes. It’s so sad.

Yes, a lot like a cat and actually grooms herself the same way. I know there are so many wonderful animals like Rozie waiting to be adopted. I often think of volunteering to walk dogs at our SPCA but I know they would break my heart and I would be bringing too many home to feed. I agree with you Kate – it’s all so sad.

Hi Cathy and thank you for your comments about Rozie. I too grew up with dogs and in between times there would always be an empty place in my heart, waiting for another. They are so special and add to life in so many ways. 🙂

Great name – “Abby Dog.” Rozie came with name and an unknown background. She did turn out to be a very sweet girl and I think she adopted us rather than the other way around.
