The first big snow of 2013!
And as always, I waited with great excitement for the first flakes to fall.
Born and bred in Florida, I suppose the thrill of snow will never fade and even though we lost power last night at 7PM and it is still gone and we are still struggling with the generator, I am absolutely thrilled to see the first real snow of the year. And it is soooooo beautiful as the sun shines on glistening heavy laden limbs and the countryside is glowing in pristine white like a young bride.
I went out as quickly as possible to get pictures!

Absolutely gorgeous! We were “teased” with a forecast of 1-3, then 2-4 inches. We had a couple of hours of sleet and strong winds last night, but no snow for us. (Hubby called on his way to our shop and said there was a dusting there – about 2 miles away). Enjoy! Hope your power is restored soon!
That first picture is especially beautiful!
Hurrah! We have power – took 24 hours to get it back though. Snow melting and more melting expected tomorrow with close to 50 degrees and sunshine.
Well, you probably know by now that snow does not in any way excite me, but your photos are gorgeous Dor!! My favourite is the first one, but they are all beautiful
.
Thanks Cindy!
As pristine as a new bride? I think pristine is out of vogue for brides. Anyhow, I envy you. Here in southeastern PA we have only had a dusting and that was almost a month ago. The first snow is magic until it turns yellow.
No time for this snow to turn yellow. It’s mostly melted already and supposed to be sunny and in the 50′s tomorrow. Snow without shoveling – what more can we ask?
Yay! Isn’t it beautiful? I grew up with snow having been born and raised in western PA, but I still love the first snow of the season. I think it’s exciting. Sorry you lost your power though, hope that generator is doing the trick or the power’s back on. Stay warm, but enjoy your gorgeous scenery.
24 hours without power and thank goodness for the wood stove and the generator. Snow on the way out with today’s sun and more sun tomorrow! All in all, a benevolent winter storm.
Just beautiful!!!! Enjoy and stay warm.
Thanks coastalcrone! The wood stove helped a lot.

Soooo pretty. I am surprised it is your first big snow. I thought back East was getting a lot of weather.
I do love the quiet white of a snowfall.
This is actually Brigadoon (that’s what we were told) so it only rains or snows at night. Big snow storms are rare but we get one or two a year and this one was great because it’s already mostly melted. Maybe this really is Camelot?
Very pretty!
You can’t beat the sun shining with the snow, it’s just beautiful.
Very beautiful! Thank you for sharing as I would never have a chance to anything like it.
Thanks Viv! Wish you were here!
Beautiful photos! The first one would make a great Christmas card for next Christmas!
Great Idea! Thanks shofar!
Did I ever tell you that your blog is listed under ‘Blogs I Like’ on my tab bar?
