Two days have passed since Christmas morn and I am back to early rising. I am pitter-pattering around the kitchen, getting ready for the husband and the doggie to “rise and shine.” And, as usual, I forget to look up and out. Then something compels me to stop the morning chores and simply drink in the ever-changing view from the kitchen window.

How breathtaking winter can be even though the north winds are howling as the sun also rises! It’s cold outside with a smattering of frozen snow, so I will stay warm and just take a picture through the window. But no – even though it is freezing and there is a wind advisory for this morning, I venture outside in slippers and minus a coat. Can I capture this magnificent view before it changes again and again?

Pink Morning Skylights
I need to take a course in working with a digital camera.

Our Silver Lined Mountains
You should have a setting on it for low light or shooting into the sun. I think they all look wonderful
full moon coming
Thanks Eunice! I need all the help I can get. Have never changed a setting on the camera yet – just on “automatic.” The moon tonight was absolutely awesome but I forgot to take my camera with us and by the time we got back it was too dark.
Always the way send me a private message on make and model and I can tell you what to do in low light or bright sun if you think you need help
Thanks Eunice! May take you up on that.
mind you I never took a lesson and really love my film fully manual Pentax but my easy share serves the purpose lol
I had an Easy Share first. It was much easier.
That is what I have just a 7.1 mp one with zoom and video
Wow! You really need to put a note on the window to look out every morning – those were incredible!
Thanks! I think so too – the scene changes every minute.
You’re getting to be quite a photographer! I love all of your beautiful pictures, especially the sunrises on this post! What time were you up? We are having short days now and it’s still dark when we rise up around 7 a.m. and it’s getting dark around 6 p.m.
I was up at 6 AM that day I think…starts out dark and then if I look, there are some spectacular sunrises.
Wonderful! How blessed you are to enjoy those sunrises!
That is quite a view!
Oh how I love it too – and have done for 24 years! Thanks for stopping by to share it with me.
Great job, Dor. These are beautiful! I can see the silver in the lining!
I was hoping you could see the silver outlines on the mountains – really a first snowfall. Thanks for the encouraging eye view.
Your pictures look gorgeous!
How do I thank you? Let me count the ways!
I think they are beautiful!
You are a keeper Kate!
I think they are wonderful captures, course or no course!! You are too hard on yourself my friend

Now the positive opinion of an expert is really something! I am humbled.
Really. I mean it. Not kidding. Honest.
I’m definitely not an expert, but I can definitely appreciate good photos, and yours were great

I think you captured those gorgeous skies quite well! The view from your window is breathtaking.
Have I told you lately what a great friend you are?
Ditto, my friend!
Dorothy, you don’t need to take a course in photography – your pictures are always beautiful and these are especially so.
Hay! And thanks for this fabulous compliment my friend. I love to hear from you this way. HAPPY NEW YEAR TOO.
I love photos taken through the window with a bit of the window showing – it gives me a sense of perspective and I can see what you can see.
It does give a different perspective to click pics from the inside out. Always nice to hear from you Val.
My goodness! You are so lucky to have that beautiful view to wake up to every morning! I’d feel like I was on vacation every day.
It does feel like a vacation every day Lori. I actually hate to leave. Thanks for noticing.

Beautiful morning. Worth the pneumonia!
Don’t you love these blissful morning moments when the sky explodes in color AND you think to take a picture AND all your friends love it? Hoping all is well in your world and you see many colorful sunrises and sunsets in 2013.
